I'd love to see a modern version of Tempest, but until then, Meteor Storm might do the trick. This is a pleasing version of Space Invaders in which the player rolls across the bottom of the screen, anticipating and shooting space ships and asteroids; the video quality is good, the action engaging, and the game itself pretty stable. A pretty deal for under $12.
Ho man, I remember playing this game on my OS9-powered beige G3 with my mom, years ago. Love seeing it come back, and it plays just as well as ever.
The game is great... simple to play and understand, the animations are fluid, the music is atmospheric... it is very well made and feels very "classic" while not seeming that old.
The only downside to the game is that the controls are limited to the keyboard -- playing two player on a single Apple keyboard (the kind without the numeric keypad) or on a laptop is an exercise in the invasion of one's personal space. Mouse control or joystick or something would be nice. Also, I seem to remember a preferences option under OS9, but it doesn't seem to be there in this release. But none of that takes away from the sheer classic awesomeness of this game.
Uh Oh! 1.6b1 worked really well on my G5 PPC. 1.6b2 the color is whacked. Z Sculpt title is fine but the game menu and game itself is all reddish orange. Unplayable.
Sorry about that. Our OpenGL engine is still stabilizing between Intel/PPC chip support. This should be fixed for the next build. Thanks for the head's up!
Thanks! I like the smooth graphics of the new version. 1.5.2 was grainy in comparison. Not only is the color whacked but the graphics are scrambled before title screen and the Finder stays in front of the game window until clicking in the desktop. None of this happened w/b1. Paid for the upgrade when it came out a few weeks ago. I too have been playing since OS9 days.

Totally worth the $12, in my opinion.
