What's New
Version 1.1:
Initial release.
Requirements
Intel, Mac OS X 10.6 or later.
Be the first to recommend a similar software title.
Downloading the Ipod Touch 3.1 software update (some 200MB) took about 40-odd minutes (I have a 8000/384kbps connection) and ran through iTunes.
When it was finally done, I went to look for it in the Library/Updates folder only to find it glaringly absent.
I was really quite excited when this was first posted, but now I'd have to wonder what exactly this Automator droplet is doing. Can't see any benefit over using Apple's Software Updater (OSX10.6.2).
Many of Apple's update have been quite large lately. I'd chock it up to that, and since watching a progress bar makes it feel faster, the silent download "seems" to take a long time.
Thanks for the response. I certainly do understand what you're saying. They have been very large, and I did notice that there's no visual indicator of the download, which I know can make it seem longer.
But, I let it run overnight, and when I got back to my machine in the morning, there'd been barely any progress made. The updates folder was only about 2MB larger than when I went to bed, and I didn't actually see new files. And, I have awesome bandwidth here.
I've restarted the machine - repaired permissions - and cleared many caches recently, but this was still an issue.
I wanted to notify you directly, but didn't really see a reference to this program on your website listed above, so I posted here.
Do you have any additional suggestions?
I want to use this, and love it like it should be loved! I can't believe Apple themselves killed this in this version...
Sounds like an isolated issue to me. This utility just uses Apple's internal software update commands, so there isn't really anything to debug. Good luck with that.
I've been on Leopard for a couple of years and never even knew I had this option. So, while I cannot use your creation, I still want to thank you for educating me.

But, I'm finding it VERY slow to download things. Is it only me?

Many thanks!
Nice to get updates for two computers by a single download. Saves some clicking around.

Why Apple ever deleted this option beats me, but I've sorely missed it.
Looking forward to giving this s spin. :-)))
