myQuickSearch is Google & Co. at your fingertips - always!

I always find myself peeved when just writing an article or coding and I only want to quick search something. Just a word, a code snippet, a Wikipedia-entry... I always have to hide, minimize or order back the current window, open Safari, select the search field before I can start to search. After that I have to order the old window front, maximize it etc. - in that time, I could have been done that search and back at coding or writing.

So I've written a small and very simple but nifty tool for the Menu bar that solves this needless pain in my neck and maybe more...

I would find this a lot more useful if it were converted into a Spotlight plug-in as my menu bar is already quit cluttered.

There used to be such a plug-in, which was quite popular but it never got upgraded for 10.6

1. This has nothing to do with Spotlight. Period.
2. There is extra an option to disable the Menu bar icon!

1. That is quit obvious. That is why I suggested it as an option in a future release!
2. I already have a pretoria of hot keys.
3. Perhaps if you won't or don't want to, someone else will.

Do you suppose Jimww meant ... plethora?

Please fix the Platform field. This is Intel-only.

Well - it's yet Snow Leopard only, but it's still an Universal Binary :-)

@Apfelz: mmh, lemme think.
It's 10.6 only. Ok, fine for me.
But it got Power PC code in there. Which only works up to 10.5...

Does not launch, nothing appears. No visible windows,
no icon in the dock, nothing new in the menubar.
( Max OS X 10.5.8)
Why release software that obviously doesn't work for
many users. Please fix and repost.

Version 1.3 continues to crash @ launch. Using the "Tiger" version 1.1 is the only current workaround.

It'd be nice for the bug(s) to get identified and squashed.

Seems to launch, but nothing appears. No visible windows, no icon on the dock, nothing new up in the menubar. Max OS X 10.5.8, Mac Mini (2009).

Seems you have to use the Tiger version… That's what I did.

This is a great concept...a long time ago, there were a few aps like this...maybe back in the early OSX days and def OS9.

Suggestion: Since this is a "mini" unobstrusive concept, why does it take up so much space on screen? Really, just a small search screen (see QuickSilver, Launchbar, etc) is all I need. The clock and all that is pointless since I have a clock in my menubar.

The full screen should be available via preferences, or if you choose results. Just my 5 cents.

You did not understand that app at all!

This is no 'big' window - thats a website and please tell me how to press a complete website (Wikipedia for example) into the window size of LaunchBar or others - or do you have Safari also minimized to 300x50 pixel???

This is incredible.
The best app I've ever seen from MoApps.
I've been looking for something like this since Shiira Mini (browser widget) stopped working.
Keep it going! :-)

This is a fantastic little utility. Thanks for making it free. One minor irritant: When using the Google search field, you have to type really fast, because after a (too) short delay the app will cancel your input and search the words or characters you've entered. I'm not sure how this is intended to work, but I'm guessing that either the delay should be longer or the search field should allow additional input once it's started fetching results.

Fantastic--you're the best. One more tiny little request to consider for a future release: return focus to previously focused window when deactivating MyQuickSearch. Thanks again for this great little piece of freeware.

Damn, this is one fine *free* app! This may well replace the (also) free Search It! for many kinds of "quick and dirty" searches.

Hats off to the developer, who does indeed have lots of way cool apps, both free and well-worth their inexpensive price shareware.

Very nice. MoApp is constantly churning out useful little apps, and here's yet another one. Very handy with a hotkey assigned to it.
