That update contents 3 Systemextensions doing the cpu powermanagement ! So not direct Audio driver update. Noies problems seems to be related to the powersaveing up/down steps of the MacPro cpu and maybe fixed ny that as an workaround.
But keep an eye on your cpu temp - it may change by that update too (less powersavings by less up/down powerstate stepping in some cases)

I was experiencing the problem where the CPUs in my Early 2009 "Nehalem" Mac Pro would get hot whenever I played audio, and this update fixed the problem for me! Thank goodness!

CANCEL-MY-ACCOUNT---NO-APP-STORE! had trouble on 11 Feb 2010
Hmm. After updating, my keyboard volume controls only control the Built-in Output now, instead of whatever output is selected (like my Built-in Line Output which I've got the speakers plugged into).

Second restart fixed it. Odd.
