SizeWell provides users with better window resize and zoom options.
While resizing a window in Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5) or Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6), hold a customizable modifier key to keep width/height, aspect ratio, centered, or to pin bottom right corner. In Lion (Mac OS X 10.7), Apple has overhauled window resizing, therefore SizeWell no longer needs to implement these advanced resizing features for Lion users. SizeWell can still displays window dimensions while resizing windows in Lion, and continues to offers many zooming features.

What's New
Version 0.8.2 beta:
SizeWell SIMBL Plugin:
Added: Options to zoom whole window or window's content to resolutions in SizeWell Zoom Options menu.
Added: New resolution (HD 720 - 1280 x 720) to SizeWell Zoom Options menu.
Added: Shortcuts for all window positioning options in SizeWell Zoom Options menu.
Added: Window's content height to dimensions when resizing or zooming.
Suddenly SizeWell is crashing constantly, taking down TextEdit and other apps along with it, for some reason. Had to turn it off. However, I assume that SizeWell’s new problems are caused by SIMBL’s infirmity (which now frequently causes other SIMBL-reliant apps to crash too), or perhaps an incompatibility with Mac OS 10.7.2.
So sorry I didn't notice this sooner. I have not personally experience these kinds of issues, or heard of any system-wide crashing caused by SizeWell or SIMBL by any other users.
Please get in touch with me directly through http://support.sizewellplugin.com or email me at pico (at) randomapplications.com so that I can help get to the bottom of the issues you are experiencing and help to resolve them.
Just a thought... if it is SIMBL that's causing issues, make sure that you have the latest version installed. The latest version of SIMBL right now is 0.9.9 and supports Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion. The latest version of SIMBL has been working reliably for me on Lion.
You are correct, it is SIMBL 0.9.9 that's causing these problems on my Macs. It crashes several times every day, and I can't figure out what the trigger is — sometimes it crashes when a SIMBL-reliant app is running, but more often it happens when I startup a nonSIMBL-reliant app or just do something with a nonSIMBL-reliant app that has been running for a while. I don't think the cause is a conflict with another app because both my MacBook and iMac experience the problem even though they are set up differently, are used for different purposes, and have very different apps installed. It drives me nuts, but I suffer with it because I really like SizeWell and the other apps I have that rely on SIMBL. I hope they figure out what its problem is soon.
Thank you for SizeWell, it will save years of time for many users. I'm just wondering if it can work with TotalFinder (SIMBL plugin) together? As I have installed TotalFinder, SizeWell had stopped to work on Finder.
Running fine on 2007 MacBook Pro with 10.6.2. Latest SIMBL and installed to /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins. Really nice to have some new resizing options.
I don't really think it is a problem when a dev addresses issues by releasing a couple updates in a few days. Better that in my opinion than never releasing a fix again.
One thing I'd like to see added is the ability to resize windows from any edge or corner preferably without holding a hotkey. I think that would give Mac users most of the same kind of window control found on Windows and Linux desktop environments. (And... maybe change the window maximizing behavior ala Right Zoom. That would save me one item running at startup. ^_^)
seems nice, too many updates though for it's 1 day sitting here on mu. Sit back, do more testing, ask for feature requests and performance reports from your users so that you can update it every week instead of every day. Nice start though.
If I find a bug and fix it, I don't think any new downloaders after that point should have to be conflicted with the bug, so I post an update. Case-in-point, 0.6.1 just posted. As a system plugin, I can't test all possible interactions on my own computer. As more people use SizeWell, I'm sure more edge cases will show themselves, and I will want to fix them promptly... especially when I have time (like the weekend). Also, this software is fairly benign, none of the bugs or updates so far have contained terrible or catastrophic issues. If you wish to wait longer between updating your installation, you can.
The description has been updated with installation instructions, but will take a minute to get to the site. The SizeWell page has also been updated with installation instructions.

seems to cause Photoshop CS5.5 Save for web not to work. disabling SizeWell allows photoshop to work correctly. dev - any idea when this will be fixed?
Sorry for not getting back to this sooner. I am traveling right now and do not have access to Photoshop to test with. But, in the mean time, you can just add Photoshop to SizeWell's blacklist in the SizeWell System Preferences pane.
There is already a topic for the issue on SizeWell's Get Satisfaction support page: http://getsatisfaction.com/randomapplications/topics/conflict_with_photoshop_cs5_save_for_web_on_os_x_10_6_7
Please follow the issue there to get notified of the official fix when it happens. But again, in the mean time, just use SizeWell's blacklisting.
Works great. One problem (and have already submitted bug report via developer website, but Picodom you seem to monitor this board too) - on computer restart SizeWell doesn't apply to Finder windows (presumably because Finder loads first, and then SizeWell). A manual Finder Relaunch works though. I don't know if there is any way around this - I guess SizeWell would have to load before Finder does to automatically work on computer restart.
It's just a minor niggle, but it would be nice to avoid having to manually relaunch Finder on computer restart.
This is a behavior of SIMBL, I previously had this in the description, and accidentally removed it in the latest release. Also, there will be a solution for this issue in the next release.

SIMBL only works with Cocoa applications. In 10.6 the Finder was rewritten in Cocoa, it is still Carbon (like iTunes) in 10.5. Sorry, but nothing can be done about the incompatibility.

This does not work on/with Finder windows. I hope the developer can add this capability.

It works as described.
The 3rd listed function - "Hold down the shift key when zooming a window to actually maximize it." is the most useful to me.
I like it.

~/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/SizeWell.bundle
- Already had SIMBL 0.8.2 for my Leopard 10.5.8 here:
/Library/InputManagers/SIMBL/SIMBL.bundle
- Quit Finder and relaunched.
Resizing a window with any of the command key combinations doesn't produce the desired results; just resizes the window normally.
Suggestions?
