Since the "suggest similar" is not finding, look at BitTorrent Sync is all you want is to sync files between devices anywhere you have an internet connection. There is no need for you files to be stored in any server along the way. Do a general search here at MU or go to http://www.bittorrent.com/sync.

You do not need any servers... cloud or otherwise.

Can anyone of MacUpdate explain to me why MY screenshot from a post on the help forum, regarding a specific problem that I was having, is being used as the TeamDrive image????

Sorry about that. I popped in a different one. I'm not sure how or why one of our Content Editors chose that.

No worries, I know that sometimes those things just happen.
Thanks for the fast replay

TeamViewer 2 used a standard .pkg for installing.

TeamViewer 2 installs fine on my computer under 10.7.4.

TeamViewer 3 has switched to the BitRock installer.

TeamViewer 3 hangs after clicking next at the first screen and has to be force quit.

I honestly don't know why companies insist on using opaque and non-standard installers on the Mac. Not only do they have less flexibility, but they are also less transparent in showing the end-user exactly what is being installed and where. I can do a Quick Look on any .pkg file and see all the files and scripts contained inside. I can't do that with anything else. Please stick to the standard.

Oops. I obviously meant to say TeamDrive, not TeamViewer.

which type of problems? Could you specify? I see none, as long as I don't use filenames which are not allowed on the PC.

Well I do not want to spend time making sure all my filenames are device independent. Still a good product in terms of security.

This is by far my favorite tool for synchronizing files between different computers and different teams. I tried TeamDrive and it's ok, but way overhyped and especially security comes far behind a pretty GUI.
TeamDrive comes with a 1 GB storage in "the cloud" but since I don't trust Amazon with my personal data, the built-in encryption BEFORE any data gets uploaded is a real plus.As an alternative, you can use any WebDAV storage you want with the free version. There is also a paid version with either more storage in the cloud or officially licensed features and no TeamDrive banner.

One extremely nice feature is the tracking of file revisions. Whenever someone makes a change to a file it creates a new version and you can also compare various revisions of a Word document for example.

Since TeamDrive is available for free and for all major platforms (Win/mac/linux) it is quite easy to have you team use this software right away. Unfortunately it relies on file naming conventions for the weakest chain in the link, so no / in files names, although possible on the Mac.

Seems you meant some other product you're comparing TD to?
