DisplaySleep is an application that allows you to instantly turn off your Display.

Q: "But there's a key command for that isn't there?"
A: Yes, but often those can become a nuisance, if you let go of the keys in the wrong order you may wake your display. This allows you to click and leave.
Requirements
PPC / Intel, Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

Both DisplaySleep and SleepDisplay give an error when you try to activate them via Applescript (iMac G5 10.5.8).
Except for that I love them! :-)

What can you say? If you need this, it's pretty handy. The price is right and it does what the developer says it does.

I don't get it. Why is it better to run this app than to pick Sleep from the Apple menu?

The application does not put your computer to sleep, it only puts the monitor to sleep.
This allows for you to turn off your monitor, but continue processes on your computer, for example; downloading something.

There's a huge difference between sleeping the display and sleeping the system.
There are currently no troubleshooting comments. If you are experiencing a problem with this app, please post a comment.
