What's New
Version 1.61:
Removed the Log window
Cryptor now asks for a password when encrypting/decrypting, until the preferences are unlocked
This app seems to get into difficulties where you can't quit it - the quit menu is greyed out, and your only resort is to quit the process in Activity Monitor.
Also surprising that it doesn't ask you to type the password twice, as similar aps do, you could get it wrong!
If you use this you should be aware that it leaves it's history file in ~/Library/Application Support/Cryptor/cryptor.hist. So you can srm it from the terminal.
I'm trying to encrypt a folder with a lot of files.. the status bar loaded not even half way and I got the spinning beachball. I left it like that for a few minutes and nothing happened. I figure it crashed so I forced quit it and am trying it again as I type this.
Neat little program and nice interface, however one thing I noted. If you leave the password blank in the preferences so that it prompts you, then if you leave the password blank at that stage and just click ok the file is encrypted. However, when you go to decrypt it, you can't. As soon as you double-click the '.damn' file you get the message "Decrypt error: Wrong password for file...". Ok, you wouldn't normally encrypt a file with a blank password but if you clicked ok by mistake before entering a password, and you had the option set to delete the original.... well, good job I tried this with a test file ;-)
I have tried it now, it seems pretty nice. Good that its cross platform too.
I don't have any knowledge to comment on the encryption though, but Wikipedia (the source of all knowledge) suggests Blowfish is good but there is a newer twofish algorithm. So maybe in a next update?
Could you send us a test encrypted file at support (at) limiter-inc.com ? That might help us track down the problem. Also, sorry for any inconvenience caused by the app.

There was an error when trying to encrypt 'v.zip' !
It failed to tell me what the error was though. I tried it a few more times and 3 times I get an error.
Any ideas?

Not a good start! The error above was caused by double-clicking on a .damn file
It didn't even give me a chance to enter a password.
I had "Link encryption and decryption passwords" checked.
What gives?
Lucky I didn't have the "Delete source after encryption/decryption" checked!
