Very nice app. It would be great if there were a way to display the Google Maps "Transit" layer in areas where it's available. For example, here's a map of part of New York City with the Transit layer enabled:

http://maps.google.com/?ll=40.748492,-73.974638&spn=0.037649,0.077162&t=m&z=14&vpsrc=6&lci=transit_comp

To the developer - Emanuel, Hello. You used to send all users who had donated to eMaps a special version with no nag. Is it still possible to have it? Thanks and ciao. Fariborz AMIRSHAHI - Verona (Italy)

+1 for this comment! I have donated to eMaps, and would probably donate again if I could be guaranteed to never see the donation nag screen every time I quit the app. The dev used to email nag-free versions, but hasn't since around version 2.4.

@Drdul, the developer who's Italian told me that he would send on request the nag-free version to anyone who has supported the software. He cares for your privacy and doesn't allow himself to send unsolicited emails. He also checks regularly all comments on MacUpdate. If you've paid then please send him your name and in no time your nag-free version will arrive. By the way, Emanuel, I'm still waiting to receive my copy of the latest version! ;-) Fariborz

I send a special version without the donation nag screen to all the supporters.
Using that version (and only that one), all the future updates downloaded from the application (eMaps > Check for Updates... or setting the automatic update in the preferences) will not contain the annoying donation reminder.
If you download a new version from here or from my site, the version will ask again to make a donation... Use the app attached to my mail and the built-in update to download the special version with no nag (and this will work for any future update!).
I did so to avoid send my mail every time, I thought it was annoying at least as the donation reminder :-)

Thanks, Emanuele! I received the latest nag-free version, and your instructions are perfectly clear. From now on will update from within the app. Your solution is a very good way to keep users who have donated up to date, without having to send an email every time. Ciao!

Very useful app - easier to use than a web browser. I even made a donation, though one isn't required to use the app.

Can't thank the developer enough for this fabulously 'Lite' mode of access to G-Maps!

Very good Google Maps client. Much faster than Google Earth.

Don't know how complicated this would be, but this application would make much more sense to me if there would be an option to display the map coordinates at center or pointer position or as a flag label, like the iOS Topo Maps app does for example.

Use the "Get Address" function (the red marker) to display the geographical coordinates of a point.

I assume the program can just get "nearby address lat/long" as the true lat/long does not change when I move the red marker around. I'm trying to get accurate lat/long like one would get in Google earth, I mean in the boonies, not just city addresses. If it could do that, plus load tracks and waypoints from a file, together with the Terrain (Physical) map it would be useful to me.

Emanuele (developer) replied on 20 Sep 2011
The address that is shown is the nearest location found for the selected point (see the Accuracy detail) but the geographical coordinates (different for every point) represent the exact geographic point on the map (they change when you move around...). Anyways, thanks for the suggestions.

Seems odd and obvious that a button to show your current location does not exist! I mean 10.6.x and 10.7.x can now determine your location...

This application is well done. I only hate the fact that the Korean Government has prevented Google from completing its street view, thus I can not use this option for Seoul. Talk about stifling foreign competition!

I use eMaps all the time, whereas I haven't used Google Earth in a long, long time. That pretty much says it all.
