I just switched from Synergy as it's become clear that it will never again be a viable solution. Off topic, but, anyway.

I don't use lyrics, so I have not tested that feature. But everything else I've tried works very well. It has been a good switch for me and I'm quite happy.

This is a review of version 1.2.1. I use Lion, and I find the free version (a link to download is provided further down this page)- is fantastic. I don't use it to pull album art. However, it is great for finding lyrics. Much better than my other apps- such as TuneLyrics and Lyrica. It also can be used to do a google search, or paste the lyrics into the track. Indispensable in this version for Lyrics. I also use it for putting album art on the desktop. From the reviews- the newer version may not have the same functionality. My two cents. My ratings are for V. 1.2.1.

Not only does it appear to no longer be free, but according to the App Store, the $4.99 price is only a discounted price until Aug 14! Wow, how utterly disappointing.

Now $6.99. Apparently this is the normal price now. Makes me sad.

Thanks for your link. I’m highly interested in TunesArt but I’m also very sad, that so many developers refuse to offer a trial version of their software anymore. Buy or die seems to be the current way.

The developer kind of pulled the rug out from underneath PPC users. 1.2.1 was a UB. 1.2.2 retained Leopard support but went Intel only without any mention in the "What's New" section.

The nasty part though is as far as I can tell, the download for 1.2.1 has been pulled from their website.

I had accidently thrown away the old version, but was fortunate to find a 1.2.1 download on another site.

I'm hoping to see a Lion-ready version of TunesArt. I love this little app!

Like this app in combination with MenuTunes. IMO, it does not do a good job of keyboard integration. And, it does not do a good job of track display changes (I use MenuTunes for the above). However, I do like the LyricWiki and album cover integration. As well as the access to playlists.

Great great application!

If in future there will be 3 more shortcuts (like "search directly an artist", "track" and "album") it will be really perfect!

My favorite iTunes notifier app. Good hotkeys controls. Last.fm sync. Love how you can use Growl AND also hover over the menubar for built-in notifier pop-up.

Only problem I have is occasionally (rarely) it can cause iTunes to stutter when loading a new track. Quitting & relaunching TunesArt resolves that. Haven't taken the time to troubleshoot further, so could just be me.

I actually stopped using this because of the stutter. It was getting on my nerves too often, almost every song change would cause it. I didn't try to troubleshoot it either, but perhaps it's when it writes either the lyrics or cover art to the track?

I just did some real quick "troubleshooting." It stutters when I have it set to fetch and automatically save lyrics. I turned that off and no stutter.

This problem is an iTunes problem, and I can't do anything for this problem :( It occurs when lyrics or cover art are saved into track. The only way to get rid of that is to disable auto-save of lyrics/artwork.

The only working lyrics fetcher, but it doesn't save lyrics to tracks automatically or manually. (Mac OS X 10.5.8 PPC, iTunes library on a WD network drive.)

Actually, Last.fm got a few troubles on sunday, and maybe your problem is related to that fact ? (one of their servers was down). I got same problem, but now everything is OK. Could you confirm ?

The best way is to delete TunesArt preferences.
Close TunesArt. Then go to to your user's "library" folder, then "Preferences" folder and look for the file "com.jib.TunesArt.plist" and delete it. Restart TunesArt.

Just logged into Last.fm (in web browser) and I seem to be missing quite a bit of recently played music. TunesArt doesn't seem to be scrobbling correctly... Or should I say it's scrobbling sporadically.

I went to the Last.fm tab in preferences, disabled scrobbling and then re-enabled it and TunesArt couldn't seem to connect to Last.fm. Could the last iTunes update (9.1) have affected scrobbling? Will have to use the real Last.fm app for now until this gets resolved.

Still a great app, especially for free!

I love this tool! Thanks for writing this cool app and make it free!

One problem I found during the few days of trying this: "Automatically Save Downloaded Lyrics in Current Track" option doesn't seem to work.

The app did fetch the lyrics and found them (I had the lyrics window open). However, when I played the same same song next time, it would still try to fetch the lyrics again. I manually clicked on "Save into Track" didn't help. I selected "Get Info" from iTunes, and no content in the "Lyrics" tab.

I am using iTunes 9.0.2, SL (10.6.2).

Hi,

Ratting and its shortcut doesn't work for me on 10.6.2. TunesArt cannot actually change the rate of songs in iTunes 9.0.2. Any idea?

Hi. I've got 10.6.2 and iTunes 9.023 and it works fine.

Can you change rating with TunesArt menu or same problem ? In addition, can you change rating by clicking on the stars under the desktop corver art ? Did you try to change your keyboard shortcut for rating (for example, I use Alt+Cmd+Up_arrow-)

I would be most grateful if someone would explain to me how to get this application to work.
I downloaded and installed it in my Application folder, but double-clicking on its icon does nothing whatsoever. It does not open, or do anything at all. In iTunes I do not see any evidence of its existence anywhere. I have some other art-finding applications which all work fine, so I am mystified as to why TunesArt does not. Particularly as others are giving it great reviews. I am running Mac OSX 10.5.8 on a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac G5. Thanks for any suggestions.
