This program is a model for Apple style interface simplicity: It can be used in the most basic way while brain dead. BUT There's much more here than immediately meets the eye.
Most of the things requested here (and many many more), already exist in the App. I'm not going to bother detailing all the options and preferences.
Just look at prefs and go to the HELP MENU (which directs you to the online manual).
If this program did audio/video capture - I could dump all my other screen capture utilities. On second thought, I wouldn't mind a separate app by this developer that did vid capture.
using modifier keys gives you more options on the floating commands, including copying to clipboard.
despite, not having marking abilities, i found out preview.app has good annotation capabilities. just add preview.app to the helper apps in preferences, take a screenshot, click preview.app in the simpleviewer window, make the annotations, save and the image is automatically updated in simpleviewer.
you can add other helper apps, such as mail or maybe even imageshack uploader (didn't tried it). http://reg.imageshack.us/content.php?page=uploader
as far as i'm concerned, simplecap is the easiest, fastest and best screenshot taker app. no proprietary libaries of your images, no tags, smart folders or other useless stuff that makes screenshot taking a slow process and an excuse to make money, as some shareware alternatives do.
oh, and it gets perfect screencaps of a full menu hierarchy (contextual or menubar), with or without background, which is something some apps fail to do even with a timed capture function.
Nice app,but it can be easy capture without any app , just press shift cmd and 3 it capture all screen , or hold shift cmd and 4 capture selected you want very easy without install nothing .I think that can be work to any Mac .
Only been using it for a short time but I'm very impressed. The only thing that would make it better (for me anyway) would be if it had a built in markup mechanism (for adding text, arrows, etc) like Skitch or Jing.
Fantastic app, can't wait for improvements in future versions!
My god. This thing is.... Simplistically beautiful... What would make this unbelievably perfect is if this had the ability to upload to Image Sharing sites like Twitpic or Flickr or Skitch, etc. That'd just be another cake on top of another cake on this fine Wedding Cake of an App. Maybe a few editing tools could be added too.... (Arrows, Text, Shapes, etc) Like Skitch. :)
