Anything but great, it has just brought me to tears so many times when it just stopped working in the mid of the process w/o saving any of the changes I've made to the video and w/o offering to recover. if this is what you guys suggest we should be all using for video editing, life is just sad..

I was looking for a screen recording tool and the opportunity of getting Camtasia in a bundle I was interested in arised...
It's not the most intuitive software, really.
But it's packed with features.
It's not lightweight.
But it's powerful.

It's certainly not the best, but I like it.

I have license for ScreenFlow, I showU HD and Camtasia as I do a lot of tutorials...
In the past my preferred were 1 ScreenFlow 2 Camtasia and then IShowU HD.
Now it is Camtasia my first choice...much more intuitive in editing for my taste.
Techsmith did a very good job.
The upgrade price is a bit high for a non pro I think...

After using ScreenFlow for the last year, I was forced by circumstances beyond my control to create a video using Camtasia. It was like going back to the dark ages. Very inflexible and non-intuitive. I'd recommend ScreenFlow over Camtasia any day.

The software is good but the update policy is not, by the way is so greedy I'm buying another software just not to have to pay an update for Camtasia.

I just downloaded what is suppose to be version 1.2.2. It shows that it is actually v 1.2.

I have a MacPro Quad-Core using Mac OS 10.6.8 with 14 GB of memory and tons of disk space. I am using a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000.

1. The audio lags annoyingly behind the video.
2. There are spots in the clip that have very loud clicks.
3. There are areas of the clip where the audio is totally incomprehensible!

I am sorry but I will stick with ScreenFlow v 1.2.9 by Telestream.Inc which has the same features but works perfectly!

There is a release 1.2.2 in the Apple Store. TechSmith Support told me there are not sure when they will release or if they will release the update to those outside the Apps Store.

Hope they don't forget those that purchased outside the App Store

I really like Camtasia. It is a joy to use. Very simple to understand and its exporting tools are great.
However, don't ever try to get a refund from them. I bought a second copy by mistake. I know that is stupid but it happened. I have emailed them via their webpage and via my account and no money has ever been returned nor have I gotten a useful reply. It might be interpreted by some that they are in severe financial trouble if they use these tactics to protect their cash flow. I don't know and won't comment. Just be very careful.
Other than that, I like it.

W-g, as a TechSmith employee, I'm sorry to hear that you had this experience. You should indeed receive a refund. If you call customer service, they will get you straightened out. The phone number is: 800.517.3001 and you can call 8am to 7pm EST Monday through Friday to talk to a real person.

Camtasia is wonderful solution for screencasts recording: it's simple, it is feature-rich and it supports captioning, audio embedding and visual effects (for instance, fades). I checked a lot of applications of same kind and neither was able build the screencast with some text in it. Some crashed, other failed to save the video, some had heavy trial limits... And Camtasia did the job.

However, I had some problems with minor glitches - app's preview isn't 100% accurate and I have spent some time fixing the project to get the proper video, but I can deal with this. This app worth it's money, really.

I've been to the buying page a few times. My main concern is that camtasia for mac upgrade policy is kind of too expensive.
Suppose there is a "bug fix" and you don't buy their ongoing upgrade pack for the year. You then have to pay for something you bought with a "manufacturing problem" in the first place.

Need tothink a bit before acceptimg this blindly....
