Doesn't work for me with a Google Voice number attached to a personal hosting account. Keeps giving me the error that I do not have a google voice number associated but I do. Had it for some time now.

Does the GoogleVoice login operate separately from any other Google logins that may be active in Safari? ie. Can we be logged in to VoiceMac with Google account A, while being logged in to Google account B in Safari?

Also, what is GeckoReporter.framework?? (in the app bundle)

I tried... It doesn't work at all (for me)... Cannot pass login... It is not intuitive... I know nothing about setting up SIP and other nonsenses (like Proxy, etc.)... I am not software developer - I am simple user, so I need something simple and efficient... This VoiceMac app is neither simple, nor efficient... Sorry... Skype rules!...

Excellent application... although just rebuilt from the ground up, it's a tad buggy. Switching phone numbers is not intuitive, the Skype theme has some major CSS overlap and there's quite a delay between the time I actually get a text in GV and when VoiceMac relays it to me. All in all, a very nice job!

Can we get this to run in the menubar? It would be nice like that instead of sitting in the dock. AWESOME application though....

I cannot get this version of voicemac to recognize my google voice account. It says I do not have a number and must set one up. This is odd because I have used voice mac in its previous incarnations with no problems (at least no problems getting the app to recognize my google voice number).

"first Mac client for Google Voice"? GV Connect widget predates this app by a long shot.

Technology, Mr. Gecko IS correct. GV Connect is a widget; not a stand alone app. Now, if you're speaking technology, then yes, YOU are correct. :)

What's SIP?

I wanna give this application a spin, but does anyone care to weigh in on the advantages and disadvantages of using a Mac application as opposed to the voice.google.com website itself?

I would really like for this to work, if for no other reason than the growl notifications when a message arrives. I find that to be very handy. I do not like to keep my browser open all the time because of the huge footprint, so this little app saves desktop real estate.

It's not as elegant, but I have my SMS and voicemail transcriptions forwarded to my Gmail account, so when Mail.app is running, I get notifications via Growl and GrowlMail that way.

Thanks for the tip. I will try that, but generally I don't care if I have immediate notification of emails because that is work related. Texts are from my children and partner, so they are generally more time sensitive. And I keep my phone on silent at my place of work.

Do you use that same Gmail account for other emails? Because in GrowlMail you can choose which accounts display notifications. You could have only the Google Voice-associated Gmail account active and that way work and personal emails wouldn't interfere.

That's assuming you don't use that Google account for other purposes. If so, maybe ask the Growl developers if they can implement smart rules within Growl, or set up a Gmail forwarding rule to another account, and activate that other account as the only one that GrowlMail should display notifications for.

The app takes too much time to logout. Sometimes, when I log in some UI controls and objects doesn't work well in Contacts window (like phone to ring or the call history).

SMS works fine. However, when I try to call out it says "Error while trying to call." Error code: null. This is on Voice Mac Beta 5. Not sure why this is happening, is there something I can do? I'm running OS X 10.5.8
