When I look with ActivityMonitor the app takes 400% CPU from my Intel Core i7. And that's when it's doing nothing! After a few minutes my fans are blowing like hell.
Best regards, Leppe.

Happens mostly when the CPU load is already a couple minutes very high.

Version 2.4 is very mature and still free! Many thanks to the developer.
Before my first Intel Mac I was able to build a couple of PPC builds. I started with almost no knowledge... Thanks to the developer for the Source Code!
At this moment I've a first beta of a Universal build (PPC/Intel) version. Also version 2.4 and able to auto update plugins. The ffmpeg I've build (universal) is the first one that is working very good on my hardware and in Rosetta (PPC) and my builds. For the first time the program converts to any format (avi, wmv, mov, mp4, etc.) on both architectures and on Mac OS X 10.5 & 10.6 (in theory the app should also have to work in 10.4.11).
I still have a few PPC beta testers from my first build, which was rather unstable, but I could use some more feedback from PPC hardware. I've put a lot of my free time in this program, so that PPC users could also enjoy this great program! I'm planning to support PPC versions untill it's unpossible because of various reasons... This could even be the last version! I hope not, but it could be. Never the less I'll try to support the last version and even make some changes for PPC.
It's all I can do for the PPC community... Even when I was able to buy a new Mac I'm still aware that there are many PPC users for this program.
If you ever want to donate, you have to donate to the original developer! It's his code, Open Source, that I've change a bit so it would run on PPC also. I'm doing this for FREE!!!
If you're interested in the Universal build of version 2.4 send me a message and I'll send you a link. Thanks in advance for helping out PPC users who are interested in this great free program. With regards.

@Developer: The ReadMe file in the source code about how to compile does not work! That's for Intel as well as PPC... Send me a message if you are interested in solving this issue.
PS: Sorry in advance for the typos in this message :).

Window -> Activity: Then you pick HD, best quality.
As to converting to another format, yes it does it,
but... with horrible quality. I'll stick with Safari.

I've managed to compile a PPC version!
I've downloaded the latest source and compiled it on my good old PM G5.
I'm sure this app will run on any G4 and even a G3 (but that is something I need to test). The PPC version is very CPU friendly and the source is also very clean and well written!
Anyone who is interested in this version, let me know and I'll put it online or I'll send to you.
The diskimage is only 1,5Mb, so it's easy to e_mail or to upload this program to my personal or any server.
Interested? Mail to doktermac@gmail.com !!!
With kind regards.
PS: Version is 2.1, plugins installed: 58, languages supported: 14, AutoUpdate is working ;-).

My build, in a automated dmg file is only 1,5Mb big?
When I check the Intel version (Get Info) the app itself is much smaller.

As far I can see you only need to drag & drop the app in the Application folder, both Intel & PPC Builds. No extra frameworks for installation...
The only thing I can think is that the Intel version is using some standard dmg size... While the PPC version dmg file is made with the Terminal...
Maybe it's a script error? Or different build settings in Qt?
Anyway, it's much bigger and untill I can't investigate why it's guessing...
Regards.
BTW: The PPC version works very well untill now! I have no issues at all! The code must be very well written!!!

Only Plugins, Language files, Resources, a Mac OS folder with the UNIX file, etc.
But no frameworks...
Greets.

App-Bundle:Contents:Frameworks:
QtCore.framework
QtGui.framework
QtNetwork.framework
QtScript.framework
... I assume your executable is working on every machine which has QTKit installed...?

I need those PPC native frameworks if I wan't to see this app running on other PPC Macs where Qt is not installed...
I'm going to contact the developer and see if he can help me. Qt is PPC compatible and the FrameWorks are installed in my Library (that's why this app works on my hardware), but they need to be inside the program as you say! Because if not, the app will not launch!!!
BTW: I just received a log file from someone that proofs your theory ;).
Thanks a lot for your help!!!
Greets & kind regards.

Note: the default settings for the built-in video-converter aren't that satisfying: I switched converting off. Worth a try, but I don't think that the 'Output quality' Setting: "The Same quality as the original video" does fulfill that promising telling. I guess they have to rename or redesign this setting because the quality is really not the same...

Fortunately there are enough alternatives, which are Universal, for free...
BTW: Thanks for this free program! I'm going to try it out on my Intel iMac ;-).
Regards.

Sometimes, the downloaded files are missing. Strange. It downloads and shows "Completed" but the file is gone. A very disturbing user experience.
NOTES
After the application starts, the main window's default focus is in the "Downloads Directory:" text-field. If you press accidentally a key that path is changed.
