About 80% of all reviews here are written by new users with only one rating.
Probably the devs doing this. :)

Hi Greedyfranky,

I just went through some of the reviews here and can see why you think they're suspicious. I'm happy to confirm that all of these reviews are all legitimate and let you know that we have a strict company policy of not writing reviews of about our own software.

We do include an unobtrusive "Please review this app" dialog in iExplorer, similar to what you see in every iPhone app. This dialog offers MacUpdate and other websites sites as places for users to review our product.

Sincerely,
Chris

Greedyfranky I have to agree with you. Most of them if not all have registered the same day as they've issued the review, and all of them have odd (computer generated) user names. To me the response of the developer to your comment is not reassuring at all. For this I'll stick to Phone View for now.

Macroplant, perhaps you folks have hired a PR firm that is astoturfing this forum unbeknownst to you. It's quite clear that it's happening as they aren't doing a very transparent job. Denials aside, it is rather blatantly obvious and has been for some time. Further, only MacUpdate representatives have the capability of making the statement, "I'm happy to confirm that all of these reviews are all legitimate..." There is absolutely no way for you to know whether any review is "...legitimate" or not.

This astroturfing isn't needed. You have a fine product and it can sell upon its own merits. (Disclosure: I use iExplorer and am quite happy with it.) Astroturfing smacks of dishonesty and the type of activity associated with the world of Microsoft Windows. Mac users are pretty sensitive about this type of thing and can smell it a mile away.

So, perhaps the company is not actively engaged in this, but someone is. Naturally, the suspicion falls directly on Macroplant.

This is the best app ever made. My hard drive crashed and I lost my extensive 750 song itunes library. It was all on my iPod nano second generation. I was able to copy it all back to my computer using this neat little tool. Saved me hours of trying to find all the songs I lost.

I've had iExplorer for a long time: in the past month I've used it several times to achieve results otherwise unobtainable. Just works, high marks. Good job.

Like the name says not a Mac Guy, bought this to help a friend get nasty grams from an ex and generally extract info that was requested from the Courts. I was very surprised and happy to see how all of the tools were labeled briefly but very informative. The flow from one screen to the next was easy to follow. I know I have only scratched the surface of this product and look forward to cleaning up music tonight.

Its easy to be happy with a product when things go well, when you have a question that's the true test. My questions were answered the same day and directions were easy enough for a sales guy to follow. Great buy!

Love the product. I was using Fliq to keep track of my texts and telephone use, but it broke when Mavericks came out and when I checked they had no plans to update it. Fortunately I started using iExplorer a while back and had an overlap when Fliq let me down.

Bought the app blindly because it got a lot of good reviews.
But what it actually did was bricking my iPhone 5S !!! The app crashed while transferring data for no apparent reason.
My iPhone did not respond anymore even after a hard reset.
Wend to my local iPhone dealer and he has to send it to Apple to fix it - probably going to get a refurbished. :(
The dealer also told me this isn't the first time he got bricked iPhones after using iExplorer.

Maybe it works for other people but be aware it can happen.
