Pomodoro is a simple but effective way to manage your (coding) time, and it's based on the Pomodoro technique.
Pomodoro stays silently on your status bar. You can only start/stop it or make interruptions. Pomodoro discreetely notifies you of important Time events using Growl or spoken notifications.
What's New
Version 1.3.5:
Added Complete Pomodoro scriptability
Added pomodoro duration to "Insert name panel" to quickly change it
Added option to prevent computer sleeping when Pomodoro ticking
Fixed a bug in statistics, now data is flushed on quit too
Great app! Highly customizable and very well thought. It has a surprising number of features (text to speech integration, interruption support, etc.). Everything can be customized and you can even integrate AppleScript if you're a crazy hardcore programmer.
I really like this app. It took me a while to make pomodoro technique work for me. I find 25 mins of work and 5 mins breaks far too long. I tried longer, since my billing timers usually end up around 45-55 mins per task, but really, pomodoro works for me at 10 mins work + 1 min break! So, experiment and see what works for you.
Great! The new icons look much better than before! I would also appreciate an option to hide the seconds, or to have a rough indicator of what is left (like the icon for the battery)!
For example you could have a pomodoro which colors itself continuosly with time, instead of having the exact amount left.
Thanks for this app! Pomodoro clearly has the edge over TimeBoxed which basically is just a countdown timer and does not offer the possibility to chain work and break timers. And it's free! It just need some pretty icons, especially the one in the menu bar is just plain ugly... It's not even recognizable.
every other pomodoro freezes at 0:01 second. pomodoro must be force quit and it looses the Session Stats.
running on 10.6.3 - 2.4GHz Intel Dual Core iMac
I had freezing issues after a long time with no problems. Tracked it down to using an external USB sound module with my Macbook Pro instead of the built in sound card. I switched of all audio alerts and speech and the freezing stopped happening.
If you have a similar issue I think you may be able to use a utility called SoundFlower to reroute the audio to another sound module. I just switched all audio off and decided to make do with Growl notifications instead.
