Spanning Tools

I am crazy frustrated; I can't even get it to work once I paid for it. The program doesn't recognize my email address; I paid via paypal and don't know what to do next. eeek!

The application is working beautifully for me. I used it already when it was in beta (and free during the beta) and immediately got a licence when it made it to 1.0. I was able to correct a number of issues with Spanning Tools. Since then, my MobileMe syncing is much smoother and weird warnings I was getting all went away. The application is a real blessing for me. I haven't seen problems with memory on my Mac (but I immediately updated to 1.0.1 when it came out). I find it a bit pricey, but at the end, it saved me from so many headaches that I think it was well worth the price.

I don't think this should be listed as free. It just asked me for a registration code, and will only work free for 15 days.

I played this game before. It started with a Deja Vu feeling, then I noted the company name Spanning Media... and then was reminded about a truly big ripoff. SpanningSync used to be free during the Beta. As with Spanning Tools, this fact was never communicated to users who eagerly sent in bug reports and suggestions on how to improve the program. The rest is history: Spanning Sync had (has?) a price tag of $69 (only for version 1, you're expected to cough up another $69 if you upgrade to version 2) and a subscription fee of $25 per year for those who didn't want to pay the exorbitant price. Luckily, Apple has now included both address and calendar syncing in iCal and AddressBook.

In general good idea. What is missing is manual editing. For example scanning the address book discovers a couple of incorrectly formatted names. But when I choose fix it clears out the company... My biggest concern is, that at the end of the beta period the price will be ridiculous as with SpanningSync. This is simply a helper: Very welcome, but nothing you cannot do yourself. So please please please keep the price tag reasonable! PS: 3 stary in Stability simply because it is Beta. This cannot be rated correctly in my mind!
