I have been using this app since 2009, and it's been a very useful tool on my desktop. While looking into a Calendar issue (El Capitan), I discovered that iDeskCal is no longer available on the App Store and the URL hashbangind.com redirects to Google. Hoping that the app hasn't gone away forever…

When I start the day, my upcoming events float atop my desktop in the lower RH corner of my screen., just the text, transparent background. The flexible display options can't be beat. I use Fantastical to enter & editing events, but for looking at them, iDeskCAl provides minimalist perfection!

Needs to be updated for Mavericks.. I get constant console errors pointing to this app about saying "client has neither application-identifier nor keychain-access-groups entitlements". Im sure a recompile is needed to satisfy new codesigning andd permission requirements. Update please!

I noticed there haven't been any comments on this in a while. I'm running the latest version of Mountain Lion and have the latest version of this installed (2.6.1) (non-Mac App Store version). I love this program. Whatever issues it had before with CPU usage are not there now. It's stable as far as I can tell (never had any crashing issues). I don't have to open my calendar to find out what events are upcoming. It embeds right onto my desktop. 'Nuff said.

I hate iCal. Calendars of any sort annoy me. I like chaos. My clients, on the other hand, insist on sending me those annoying meeting request things that end up filed away in iCal and I end up missing them because I cannot bring myself to launch iCal all the time just to check something silly, like an important meeting or a pay day. I only one could have the iCal events blend into the desktop towards the unused edges and leave me alone. Oh, wait, you can. After arriving late for my nth meeting last week, I realised I needed this kind of function more than I would care to admit. I downloaded each of the available solutions and tried them all out. Most lasted no more than 30 minutes on my machine. This lasted and I was not about to wait for the 14 day trial to expire - bought instantly. It does what it is supposed to do, nothing more, nothing less. I have no idea how I lived without it. Oh wait, I do - I missed meetings and birthdays and my anniversary. Sorry dear...

Update to version 2.4 not working, either done internally within iDeskCal or from MacUpdate download link (!?!). Otherwise updating the latest comments posted here: CPU issue has been fixed since 2.3. My only feedback: it would be better not to have any icon on the Dock or Menu, accessing the Preferences by double-clicking the app itself (in the Application folder).

I had the same problem. I downloaded the update and ideskcal made my computer slow to a very serious crawl. It took me over two hours to get it off my computer. I love this software so I do hope they manage to fix the problem, but DO NOT load it at this point.

I downloaded this software, paid the fee, and used it happily for about a month. Then I downloaded the update. BIG MISTAKE. My MacBook, running the latest version of Leopard, started acting like a WIndoze machine inflicted with an overload of spyware. I had to restart in safe mode to uninstall the software. Wondering whether the file had become corrupted, I removed iDeskCal and downloaded anew. No fluke, my MacBook is unusable with this software installed. The company has not responded to my request for assistance. Even if your computer handles this software OK, you should think twice about people who do not respond to their paid-up customers.

I have been using the application called icalviewer for the last few years (in conjunction with flexcal). This app was brought to my attention and completely changed the way my desktop looks! Before it was MANY moving blocks of daily events. then to add a new event I had to evoke flexcal. Now there is a MUCH more mac-like list of my events. Built into this app is the ability to add events. there by removing the need for flexcal. In less than a week of trying out this app I have decided that it is a must have for the busy professional \. In just a quick glance..... I can see what I need to be doing as add new events in a flash. Worth the money!

Bought this a couple of days ago and immediately decided it was a "must-have". The documentation is somewhat lacking, but the two queries I had about aspects of the app were both answered promptly by the developers with clear instructions and advice. Would recommend the app - at least try it and see if you like it. I have been looking for a simple to do/reminder/tasks list for a LONG time, tried most of them, but this app is elegant and did it for me.

I like this app as well. For me, it has a visual glitch on the ToDo tab where it doesn't look like the border was finished on top. Also, I sent a message to the developer asking for the option to change the menu icon to something a little more subtle. All else is good.

Because I want to be able to quickly see my schedule without having to fire up iCal. iDeskCal launches when I log in and it is always there. It also allows me to quickly add an appointment or meeting without launching iCal. I use it for much the same reasons I use GeekTool. With GeekTool, I like seeing my local radar at a quick glance and I like seeing how Time Machine is doing at a quick glance. Sure, I could fire up Safari and go to a web page that displays my local radar, but GeekTool allows me to see that MUCH faster. Sure, I could run the Console and filter out backupd process entries, but GeekTool allows me to view that information much more quickly.

This is a very nice little app. It is wonderful to be able to be able to use Expose to reveal the desktop and have a quick glance at my schedule. iDeskCal is easy to install and configure and has been stable in the few days I have been running it (though I wish the position of the calendar on the desktop was a little more intuitive). It will display any calendar, even those to which I only subscribe. I highly recommend this app if you want to have your calendar conveniently displayed on your desktop.
