I have been happily using Trend Smart Surfing since it was in beta. This is a great product!
I have been a Mac user for the past 7 years; and, can definitely say that this is the best anti-virus product that I've ever tried on the Mac.
Trend Micro is a very well respected company for Windows anti-virus protection; especially, in the corporate enterprise.
I am very happy to see Trend Micro enter the Mac world. Welcome!
Trend Smart Surfing has a very clean, intuitive, well-designed interface. Trend Smart Surfing runs with a very small footprint... very low overhead. It doesn't slow down my Mac like Norton or VirusBarrier did.
Lots of ways to achieve the same result for free, ie a bit of common sense (just don't click on links in emails), sensible browser settings and add-ons like Web of Trust or Site Advisor as someone has mentioned below. $70? Come on...
What a horrible way to enter Mac market Trend Micro... Really speechless about this one.
What kind of plus you provide compared to MCafee siteadvisor which is free?
http://www.siteadvisor.com/
Would it work in Safari? Is it the case? Well if yours works in Safari, you either plug into it via input manager (trouble) or run a local proxy which are both hacks.
Entering Mac market with $70 software which the trusted competitor (enough to gain trust of Yahoo) is freeware is beyond me to understand.
I actually like your business, on Windows and enterprise side, just providing housecall.antivirus.com for free, for years and even cleaning viruses for free inside browser is beyond any company out there... That is why I feel like frustrated when I see this offer, treating Mac users like... You know, rich and dumb people.
You don't need to enter Mac market this way and you don't need $70 of couple paranoid people you can abuse. Because of offers like this, security anxious users are treated like phobic morons on mac scene.
About the Web 2.0 threats and drive by downloads? Well, Symantec has a solution which has half price (or less) and they are still flamed by users.
