I like that this app is free and easy to use, but the design is just plain ugly. I miss the older "classic" look it had. Another problem is the that the app opens up new browser windows when viewing lists. If I wanted to view Twitter in my web browser, I would've opened up a browser window. Other than that, it seems to work just fine.

Good Twitter tool but the ui needs a new look. Not very nice to look at.

I have 2.1 and although the newest version is 2.11, the app store says "installed" so there's no way to update.

try clicking the “Purchases” button at the top of the AppStore browser and see if you can update it from there.

I generally like the Official Twitter client. I just can't really get along with the bulky design. Why does everything have to go the iOS way now?

Otherwise it's a free, ad-free, well maintained piece of software that does what it's supposed to - Tweeting.

YoruFukurou still is the best Twitter software for Mac - and it's free as well.

YoruFukurou is indeed great. It is ahead feature-wise. For most tasks, you don't even have to leave the client. But IMO, Twitter is ahead UI-wise. It's more beautiful. And the name's better. ;-)

Still no bit.ly support. I'll be using the old version (Tweetie) until there's a built-in way to shorten URLs.

You probably won't see this any time soon, because just want to push their own service, t.co.

The App Store is firewall blocked here at the office, so I guess I won't be trying this out.

I also won't use the app store so despite paying for the previous version, there's no upgrade path for me.

Screw you Twitter.

It's free. There's no "upgrade path" for anyone other than to go to the App Store and download it for FREE.

Shacklaw, you should take some remedial reading courses. I paid for the app and won't use the App store, period. I've just been screwed out of my money and the software.

I don't care if it's free. I want a version which does not require Apple's App Store.

Why, because I am of a different opinion than you? Cut your own nose off if you like, but don't stick it into my decision making unless you have something positive to contribute.

The app store concerns me too for various reasons, but I'm a pragmatist. If the application is free (and do you care that they know you downloaded a twitter client?), then what is the harm in downloading this Twitter client through it? I see a lot of (unrealised) potential in the app store, and so long as it's optional I think that it's a good thing in general. The biggest negative as far as the consumer is concerned is that a lot of the free applications are gaining a price tag, but that's down to the author.

What's the reason you're so against it? Perhaps you know something I haven't thought of yet...

Maybe i'm just really dumb but for an official app why can't i find tweet feature ANYWHERE? i see reply, retweet, or direct message, but the most important feature of all, starting a new tweet (not a reply) is not there. how? I grow tired of having to right click and then "view on twitter" to send a normal tweet that i don't want to appear as a reply to one of theirs.

With the new version, the menu bar item is missing. The first time i run the app it's show correctly, but after a restart, it's gone, even if i check/uncheck the preference.

Also, i got sometimes the "user not recognized" error.
