Crucial Mac System Scanner... Helps Mac users or administrators check a Mac with this automated software to figure out how many memory slots a Mac has, what speed they are, how much of what types of memory is installed, and what kinds and sizes of memory it will take to upgrade it. The program relays the info through the crucial.com website so you can optionally purchase the guaranteed to be correct memory from them, but no purchases are necessary to use the software just to obtain good RAM specs.

Basically a link to their online tool. But it does send your computer information to them; might be sending more. As Bidule said it avoids little snitch.

Without previous warning, that app quickly shut down and open a browser page, you can see that datas were sent to Crucial !!! A manner to avoid LittleSnitch.
"The program relays the info through the crucial.com website" is the main sentence to notice.

If you observe what the program does: it first directs you to a page on your own hard disk. No information is sent to Crucial. If you click the continue button on that page, it directs you to Crucial. At this point it is sending the information using your web browser, which is why LittleSnitch doesn't complain (unless you haven't allowed your browser to send information).

Anyway, no need to panic that it is somehow evading LittleSnitch.

Should be named Crucial MacScanner since it links to the website site.... but for me it crashes and does not work. I have a mac pro 2008 which should work perfectly.
