Version 1.7.2:
- Massive OpenGL optimizations, especially with detail textures (2x - 5x as fast on modern hardware)!
- New event-based input system that guarantees every character typed will be registered.
- New preference to automatically save multiplayer films.
- Elimination of up to two ticks of baked-in latency in the Myth net code.
- Overhead map zoom level will now be saved between games.
- Fix for the endless "Waiting for other players..." dialog.
- Type-to-seek functionality for the new game, recordings and saved game lists.
- Restored custom plugin images in the single-player new game dialog.
- Optimized gameplay code, resulting in 30% faster save game loads.
- Added new high resolution icons.

The sprites look pretty dated, but otherwise this still looks (and sounds) great, and most importantly is still fun. Thanks to the developers who continue to maintain this project for their ongoing efforts to preserve this classic game.

The enhanced ground textures are an awesome bonus.
My one regret is that even used copies of the game discs, still necessary to play the full version of the game, are increasingly rare and still very expensive.
Though this is an unlikely wish, I think it would be a neat idea to try to port this game to iPhone. It would turn on a whole new population to this style of game and its volumes of user-generated content, without terribly taxing the system requirements.

Still, I've had no issues w/ performance on the previous versions, even on an Intel Mac. Would expect this version to maintain if not improve upon that performance.
