This looks like a fine little app, though it certainly doesn't hold a candle to Scrivener. On the other hand, it's also less than 1/3 the price. This may be worth looking at for someone who wants an app oriented to writing longer works but doesn't need anything as extensive as Scrivener. Anyone using Scrivener, however, will find little reason to switch here.
Also, I'm wondering about the full-screen mode in this. It's not so much full screen as just a zoomed window. It doesn't hide everything but the text like full screen modes in Write Room and Scrivener. I think the appeal of full-screen writing is its ability to minimize distractions, which include not only other apps on the screen but even the buttons and toolbars of the writing program itself. I think this app would be more appealing if it had a true full-screen mode with typewriter scrolling.
Well, change is good. I am using Scrivener and am quite pleased with it. Actually I finished a book on it. But this newcomer to the writers' playground well deserves an extensive test. For me, the result is quite satisfying. First of all, myWords is prettier than Scrivener (though less so than Ulysses). Secondly, it has password/encryption feature -a feature for which the developer of Scrivener refers us to Apple's disk utility which I find hard to use. Well, although I am backing up my creative work in many ways, I know -God forbid- that my computer may be stolen. I do not want to see a burglar's name on my work-in-progress. It has many essential Scrivener features like snapshots, fullscreen, etc. Besides, it has a killer attraction: letterbox mode -I loved it. The only thing I am not sure about is whether it will be able to handle large files. We will see that some months later. Till then, gentlemen, this seemingly small application has won my respect as it is. I hope the developer continues to build on it.
but I hate dealing with documents (so I can have all my Workings with me and with the soon available portable version even independent from my Mac) and I love (and need) writing with my old Pismo and I've no need for a 'Project-Management'…
So maybe this fits also the needs of others.
2. is a version extra designed for Leopard in the works (with a little bit more eye candy…)
