Well I'm in Internet Business since over 10 Years. I was using eudora communicate Entourage etc. The Apple Mail is one of the easyest App to use and the Database engine is outstanding fast. Startin the app with over 10'000 Mails is a fingersnip and the search function is absolutely stunning.
I'm not happy with everything Apple does but here they did a great job.
thanks

The idiocy called "Mail.app" gobbled up all 99% of my MobileMe ("iCloud") and Gmail inboxes. Thank you, Apple, you spit at my face once again. Go bankrupt, for goodness' sake!

Id-Ego-SuperEgo - Please sell your Mac ...and anything else you've made the mistake of purchasing that is made by Apple. Go to Google. They are your kind - believe me.

@Younkint - or watered your name. Had you spit that rubbish in my face, I'd spank you into a lengthy oblivion. Now, idiot, put your cowboy hat on and proceed preaching gospel.
It's of little relevance now, but you were peeing in your mother's womb around the time I purchased my first Mac.
Mind this, idiot: you never give one you know nothing about an unasked for advice. Could cost you a shattered temple and a jaw to boot.

Id-Ego-SuperEgo - Whoa! Big tough guy behind a keyboard! Judging from your track record here on MacUpdate, from your idiot newbie mistakes to your outstanding status (not), to your stated desire for Apple to "...Go bankrupt..." you are certainly an piece of work.

As for "...unasked advice," you have insulted the entire Mac community with your childish wish for Apple to "Go bankrupt, for goodness' sake!" I'm surprised no one has taken you to task until now. Perhaps others simply spot a whiner better than do I and let the sleeping cur lie...

If you detest Apple so, why are you still here?

I completely agree, Apple has really taken some steps backward with interface design in Lion. Even worse than mail is iCal and Address Book...

Email is one of those features that most users presume should work 100% of the time - and I'm one of them. I use Mail on four Macs of different vintages, portable and desktop. The interface is fairly simple, but most users probably won't need to concern themselves with the details of ports and configuration, but in the case that things don't work, it's a good idea learn basic support info in case there's a conflict with your ISP.

One of the most unstable parts of Mac OS X. Mail has historically had multiple problems with indexes, losing mail, corruption on disk, corruption of preferences and general lack of features when compared to MS Outlook and other modern email software. Current version commonly consumes all of the systems CPU when changing network connections (aka MacBook changing from Airport to Ethernet, from VPN to non-VPN etc.)

Apple seems incapable of stabilizing this application.

Yea, the reason of crashing was for pgp plugin. I didn't see this update earlier and I got to fix it myself. Just go to "/Users//Library/Mail/Bundles" and delete the pgp bundle and relaunch Mail. Hope this will help.

Grr, I type 'username' in angel brackets and macupdate thought it's a tag and not showing. The path where you will see Mail bundles (plugins) is: /Users/username/Library/Mail/Bundles. Here 'username' is your login username.

Mail was running well when I removed the pgp bundle. But since yesterday my Mail was not Quitting. I always had to 'Force Quit'. Now installed the upgrade and things are fine. Thanks for the update. Can I install the pgp bundle now? I'm going to have a try.

I didn't experience any issues with Mail after updating to 10.5.6 but I installed this anyway, just to be on the safe side.

No issues after many hours of emailing today.

Have you used Apple's Disk Utility to repair permissions? Have you used your preferred system utility to 'clean up' your Mac? I'm asking these things because I do not know what if anything you have tried to do to remedy the issue except for restarting your Mac.

You'll have better luck trying Apple's support discussion site. http://discussions.apple.com/

Try downloading the combo updater and run that across the top after quitting all apps esp third party ones such as Little Snitch etc. Helped me with 10.5.6
