IMPORTANT: Dropped support for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. If you're on anything earlier than 10.6 don't update!

Better memory management, especially when using Socialite for a long time.
Always show events in favorites/starred containers.
Fix loading in RSS URLs with "|" in URLs.
If there's an active filter (search), "Mark All as Read" will only mark read the filtered events.
Delay start of search (filtering) by about half a second to allow fast typing of search terms.
Twitter: user's newly posted tweets are now initially unread.
Facebook: user's own status updates become unread if there are new comments for them.
Lots of bug fixes and stability improvements
Updated Growl framework to version 1.3.1 SDK.

I want this app to work I really do. I have owned it since it first started as Eventbox & as the app grew yet lost features it seemed to be unbearable to run which was strange. Now without in app browser or Tweet Marker support there is just no point.

I have seen non stop requests for Tweet Marker to be added in but the developers sam to be holding out for version 2. By that time I think they would have lost to many users.

I loved this app, I really did. Now it just frustrates me.

I felt the need to log in just to leave this review and describe why after two years I've decided to uninstall Socialite. When this product first came to be, known as EventBox, it was an up and comer with many networks supported and many upcoming. Reddit support has not been in this app for some time, yet it is still listed here on MacUpdate and in the screenshot. Tumblr support was also being worked on before the sale to RealMacSoftware, and that never saw the light of day.

Really the number one thing that led to an uninstall is the fact that still to this day you have to open a web browser to view news feeds and links, instead of within the app like other similar software. It is a shame that the sale to RealMacSoftware rang the death bell for EventBox, I am not certain that Apparent is going to be able to bring back the promise that it had during the beginning.

It's with a heavy heart that I write this. I've used and supported Socialite ever since it was EventBox, but after all these years it's still too buggy for what I need it to do. As an RSS reader, it's failed me due to persistent lockups with refreshes; as a Twitter client, it's failed me due to constant reauthorization request and perpetual refreshes. I've tried everything on their support forums that's been recommended, and nothing seems to work at all.

I'm not really bitter or angry at Apparent Software, I know they try. I've just that I've had enough with my constant struggles in getting this app to work for me.

I, too, am tired of the struggle. I had less problems when it was EventBox. The two changes of ownership and the updates have only made this app worse for me. I have to rebuild my database about every third time I open it. I stopped adding all my accounts and feeds. It's too time consuming. I'm just trying to get by with two Twitter accounts, and I can't even do that. I just installed the latest version and had to rebuild my DB again. It's sad, because I first considered this to be the perfect social app for me. I can't even go back to my second favorite, Nambu, because they have gone by the wayside [sigh].

I haven't been using it that long but I was so impressed at first that I bought it. Now...I’m using Reeder and Twitter and FaceTab. [ditto on the sigh]

I use Socialite every day, and I like it very much. I can easily gather the whole social network information in one place. It saves me a lot of time, and helps me keep in touch with all my friends!

After installing Lion it worked for a few days, then all of a sudden, it will not launch.

All in all this app feels slow and badly programmed.

All I am really looking for is a living, breathing version of Brizzly. This is fairly close, but lacks auto-expansion of all pictures, videos and links such as Brizzly has.

I will say, definitely kudos for not going the route of making it a tiny column like most Twitter apps inexplicably feel compelled to do. Also, I like the fact you can make the fonts bigger. Would be nice if you could customize them too.

So, not a bad app, just doesn't do what I was specifically searching for.

But one question: is there support for Twitter photo upload to Yfrog or alike service? Very needed feature which I couldn't find.

Yes, there's support for twitpic and a couple other.
Look in Preferences, bottom row - Photo Uploads.
Define, then drop images on the timeline view.

In Lion 1.3.6 is very buggy. When try to quit the app, it takes ages and it is needed to force quit. Authentification in Twitter and Facebook isn't smooth.

@Arjuna. If you upgraded from a release earlier than 1.3.5 then it may take a long time to quit Socialite the first time. Socialite does some database optimizations on exit and more so since version 1.3.5. You shouldn't force-quit, let it finish.

What's not smooth with Twitter or Facebook authentication?
