Marketplace... It's Craigslist. Without the Ugly.

Love Craigslist but hate how painful and ugly it is? I do too. So I created Marketplace. It takes the pain and ugly out and leaves the good stuff in.

Made for Mac - Made by a Mac user, for Mac users. It's simple, straight-forward, and fast. Everything a Mac application should be.

Find Anything - Search across multiple regions and categories. Get all the results in one convenient window. Then narrow your search down even more with built-in filtering.

I surely enjoyed this app when it was under development, but now that it has fallen by the wayside it likely best that it be sandbagged and the developer's link cut. Developer does not respond to queries. He's alive and well on Twitter if others want to try and contact him...maybe you'll be lucky enough to get a response, but I doubt it: http://twitter.com/joshaber

After 16 years as a Macintosh user, I must say that the reviews of product here are unfair. It's a very good mac search tool. The best I can find. Anytime a developer/designer can install an application and make money with it on the same day they have found gold. 19 bucks earned me a $2,800 project today right here in Orlando. No, it didn't close the sale for me, but it made sure I was the first person to email that lead. So not only do I highly reccomend Marketplace, I would like to thank the developer for creating it and pricing it so that anyone can purchase it. Good job! So just to be fair, I found 1 minor issue. If you have it checking craigslist very minute it will use some resources, nothing close to say Dreamweaver but it will use 35-40 of your ram. No problem, ram is cheap!

P.S. MacUpdate's Rating stars code is buggy. I give it a 5 for VALUE maybe a 6!

It's Marketplace. With a whole lotta ugly - code, that is.

Without a doubt, the lamest excuse for an app I own. Crashes ALL the time - sometimes within seconds of opening. Otherwise unresponsive, will miss items listed in a search and buggy. When it works, it's just a matter of time before it crashes.

Don't waste your time or money, instead use rss, google reader for CL.

Never ever updates. Never ever, ever, ever, ever updates the software!!!
Stops responding to emails.
For $20, you should at least be able to get a response. It's funny that his site says "tell me how to make it better." I've told him, told him, and told him as I'm sure plenty of others have. Yet it's been around 2 yrs. since any update at all????
I'm actually begging other users to not buy this. Please don't buy it! If you do, you're just rewarding his non-responsiveness and unwillingness to actually stand behind his product.
Don't do it! Seriously. Please. Please, please don't.
It should be $5 at the most.
I want a refund!

v1.2.6 Not ready for prime time. The program frequently crashes and is buggy. Developer support is not prompt and then inadequate.

I've been very pleased with Marketplace (see full review below) and continue to use it. But recently craigslist seems to have changed something and I no longer get prices in the results listings - I have to click on a result and then see the price in the listing itself. I haven't received a response from the developer regarding the problem as I have in the past. Not sure if he is no longer supporting this software.

Still better than using the CL website directly, but a shame to see support stopped for this great app.

This is an awesome little app! It does one thing and does it very well, and the Developer is constantly working on upgrades and improvements. he even replies when you e-mail him with suggestions, and how cool is that!

I use CraigsList a LOT, and before Marketplace, I;d do a search in one area - no results. Repeat the search in another area - one result - and so on.

Now, I can specify multiple search areas, entire states, even the whole country - and Zip! Marketplace does all the heavy lifting.

Most of the limitations of the app come from CraigsList itself in my experience, so is it perfect? No, but what is?

If you like CraigsList, you'll love Marketplace! As for it costing $20 - it saved me that the first time I used it - everything else is gravy!

Some would wonder why they'd want to pay for an application to access a free online service... Generally, for the added value that it provides and the time that it saves.

I used to save my craigslist searches as bookmarks and then open items that I found interesting in new tabs in my browser so that I didn't have to keep bouncing back and forth from the list and the items. Then I'd save items that I was interested in as additional bookmarks. All of this worked to a point, but ended up with a somewhat confusing jumble of bookmarks and the possibility of sometimes missing new items.

Marketplace allows you to save your searches and save items that you are interested in as favorites in a separate list. Three panels across your display show your saved searches and favorites in the first, the list of items in the currently selected search in the second, and a currently selected item in the third. No more jumping back and forth.

Further, after creating a search you can filter those results at any time. There are three different craigslist areas close to me that I search through and a combination of searches for specific words and general category searches that I use. But at any time I can use the "filter" to add specific constraints to my search. This can be especially helpful if I saw something a couple days ago and didn't add it to my favorites at the time but further thought has made me want to check it out again.

Finally, Josh is an incredibly responsive developer. If you e-mail him with a question, possible improvement, or comment he is most often going to reply within 48 hours and usually within 12 hours. When I first started using Marketplace I was impressed, but sent him an e-mail with some ideas of what would make it "perfect" for my use. Within months all of the suggestions that I made were implemented! I have no idea how many other people may have suggested similar improvements to mine, but it shows that Josh responds to his user base.

A clean, simple program that definitely delivers!
