Excellent! Finally I don't need to visit youtube.com any more to load videos. Also no longer do I need to install hacky extensions to allow me to download videos.

The app feels quite dated and counter-intuitive in some places. However, its functionality makes up for its shortcomings. Recommended download.

This is the best Youtube "App" for me. I´m looking forward to get rid of Adobe Flashplayer on Mac.

First off, I found the documentation sorely wanting, and hence attempting to use it was a frustrating experience. The developer apologizes for his/her English; however, this is not the problem. It is spelling out the details of various actions and functions that is the issue.

For instance, it took me about fifteen minutes to figure out how to view and then download a video -- whereas with Jaksta this took about 30 sec. And from what I could glean, some features didn't work; for example: the delete function and the download list box. As is, as far as I can tell, the only way to remove an entry is to close the program and restart it, as the delete command does not seem to function.

From all the windows that come up, it appears that it may have a lot of features, but goodness knows how to use them all. Why should a user have to fiddle around for an hour or more when things could be spelled out plainly in the documentation?

Looking on Youtube I see that there are some tutorials for this application, but this is the first time I have had to resort to this tact to figure an application out, and generally speaking video tutorials are tedious.

One question I had before I downloaded this app regarded the requirement of Safari 2.0+. I wondered if it was necessary to be using Safari in conjunction with this program. The answer is no. In fact it isn't necessary to use any browser, if you already have URLs for videos. Evidently Mactubes just needs the native browser to be Safari 2.0+ (and 4.0+ for some features/formats)

First off... thanks for the app... extremely fast!

Sometimes I have to use iTubeX though (which is waaaay slower) but for some reason can download videos that MacTubes can't. Anyway you can solve this?

Not a bad grabber but I do not like the UI. It is a mess really.
But hey, it is free. :)

If you have some cash, consider iTubex. IMO the best in off kinds.

Version 3.1.4 simply won't launch at all for me. Deleted all prefs, still nothing. I got some download errors with 3.1.3 but at least it launched. - 3.4Gz iMac i7 with 16GB RAM.

I have always loved this application; however, in recent weeks, less than 10 percent of my downloads complete successfully. They often stop between 12 and 25 percent. I have had no changes in applications or plugins to cause a conflict. I have a PPC, using Mac OS 10.4.11 with 3.5 GB of RAM. I am, however, on a 56k dial-up connection, since I cannot afford high-speed. Still, I have been able to download dozens of MP4 files in the past. Any ideas for me here? I did visit the developer's site. My Flash is version 9, so that's not the problem. I'm at a loss as to why this is happening. Last night, I did get 2 of 10 MP4's to download.

i once try to download a clip on mactubes, it shows "can not start download, please check error log". anyone face this problem before?
