Watchmac... Your Mac can already stop unwanted access out of the box. Sometimes it is desirable, however, to know when someone tries to circumvent these measures. This is where Watchmac comes into play.
Watchmac monitors your Mac for possible infringements. For instance, when someone tries to unlock your screensaver but fails to enter the correct password, Watchmac will record this event and can even take pictures using the built-in (or an externally connected iSight). Best of all, Watchmac can even send you an email alerting you about the infringement.
And remember:
What's New
Version 1.6.3:
Fixes a bug that prevented the Watchmac preference panel to be opened for new users.
Other minor bugfixes.
Requirements
PPC / Intel
M Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard (10.5.4 or later recommended). Monitoring authentication is fully supported on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard only. Screen unlock authentication can be monitored on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard when having Watchmac lock the screen.
For taking pictures: Integrated or external iSight (works with MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, as well as with iMac).
For sudden motion detection: MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro or PowerBook G4 (Early 2005) or iBook (Mid 2005).
The authentication sensor is currently only supported on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.
While Watchmac 1.5.1r2 crashes immediately on my MacBook Pro C2D w/ OS 10.5.8, version 1.5.2 prerelease mentioned in the developer's comment, below, does work fine for me.
The Watchmac 1.5.1r2 crash notwithstanding, Watchmac is a finely crafted security app. which otherwise works quite well.
I've found its developer easily accessible and very responsive to queries and issues.
We're aware of the issues with versions 1.5 to 1.5.1r2. We're working on a fix. Meanwhile, users may try version 1.4.3 (http://bloo7.com/Q55F02D) or the 1.5.2b prerelease (http://bloo7.com/QCCA53C).

And remember: Some intruders are even in the family. Even though you probably wouldn't count your children among them, Watchmac is nevertheless a great tool for detecting when your children don't play by the rules.

Crashes on launch, every time. Reverting back to version 1.4.3 eliminates the crashing. Mac OS X 10.5.8, Mac Mini 2009.

This software could still use a few more triggers, most importantly a "MagSafe plugged" one.
Still, works great.
