Lexmark's drivers are the same as those from Apple. They even tell you as a trouble shooting method to delete the recipes and let Software Update redownload them.
I downloaded both when I first updated to Lion and Apple had a slightly newer version than on the Lexmark site.
I had that same issue as you, and solved it by removing all the Lexmark parts and reinstalling it.
After installing the LM 2.4 Driver package, through Software Update, I no longer can access the Lexmark Printer Utility from the Printer Setup screen. A copy of the utility is available in /Library/Printers/Lexmark/Drivers and can be accessed via an alias or directly.
I never even thought to try using a Lexmark on my Mac, after seeing how much effort they don't put into Windows drivers. My aunt bought a Lex inkjet in a bundle deal with a new Vista64 system, and Luthormark simply doesn't support it.
Maybe it'd work with these drivers, if she hadn't gone "Office Space" on the clunker.
[Version 2.2]

With OS 10.7 the printer does not work. Buy a new printer is not what I wanted

Back to Lexmark's driver… why can Apple not fix this?
