GNU Core Utilities are the basic file, shell, and text manipulation utilities of the GNU operating system. These are the core utilities expected to be found on every operating system. While OS X by default includes many such applications, the GNU core utilities offers additional functionality and enhances existing programs. This package installs to '/usr/local/bin' and includes support for all OS X platforms, including: x86_64, i386, ppc, and ppc_64.

The easiest way to build the coreutils package is with MacPorts.

Thanks Mike, I haven't had a chance to test this package on 10.4.X, although I did compile the package with Tiger compatible build flags - I'll readjust the package and inform the hosts of Leopard only compatibility.

Most of the utilities from this package crash with a bus error on MacOS X 10.4.11 on my PPC. Compiling coreutils 6.12 from scratch doesn't have this problem.
