The only thing I would like to see is the Downloads progress bar integrated into the main window so it's basically a single window app (similar to how Safari 5.1 handles downloads, or a download manager could be contained in the bottom of the window).

It's easy to use and downloading a bunch movies at the same time is cool.
Will register for sure.
BTW will this be available at Appstore any time soon?

In the past I mostly enjoyed reading your reviews and in some extend it sometimes helped me choosing the right app.
But lately your going the wrong lanes. I mean, iTubeX is a very good app and support is great. Why dissing on the app and his users?
I think you have to step down and let your high self-esteem go for one minute.
Stop writing nonsense here and go on with your live.
From now on I will think twice reading your reviews. Shame on you !

Installed the Safari Extension. Quit and restarted Safari. Navigated to Google Video and played a video.... used the Safari extension to open the video URL in iTubeX and it plays in the window. When trying to download it it says "Please make sure you're on a page with a playing video or audio clip". This has happened for all sites I've tried on the crappy 4 video limit the trial offers.
Waste of time. Don't bother downloading. Deleting it from my system now!

Secondly, actually before you posted this comment, I did answer it. Here's a summary of my answer:
- Don't forget to mention that a license for iTubeX includes free updates for an unlimited time; you will never have to buy a new license like you have to with Adobe CS.
- Apple allows you to use a single iTunes account on a maximum of five computers, not six...
- One of the reasons why I had to set a limit for the amount of computers is because serial numbers would often be distributed over the internet which of course is something I don't want to happen.
- Most Apple-users (including myself) I know are using just one or a maximum of two computers. That's why I decided to set the bar at two.

I have no problem discussing this subject with you via email (though I would appreciate it if you would be less 'aggressive'), but please stop posting all these comments here.

Curios.
Second coincidence: the developer, IN HIS FULL RIGHT, decided to change the licensing policy considering it was enough for his users. He may have made a mistake, but actually 2 computers per user may sound reasonable. And, ho, this is disturbing you a lot so to raise a lot of noise here.
Curioser.
Third coincidence: you are using strong words, as like this young, smart and clever guy destroyed all your activities or computers.
Trying to put him in the bad light. The only one. And accuse who's criticizing this tones as being kind of "interested" or "associated" to this developer, whom by the way is known to work fully on his own.
Curioser and curioser.
Three coincidences are an evidence, they say.
Attempt to shame a good app that for some reason is disturbing you or someone close to you with its success?

Well, the most clever thing to do is to ignore/avoid such characters. nuff said

Always worked perfectly for me through all the various versions of OS X and the app...suddenly tho' I'm having problems even launching iTubeX - version 9 on OS X 10.7.1 - I'm sure it's worked with this version before but now it crashes on launch:

Note that there is a temporary solution that should make it work again: simply enter 'test.mp3' as the filename and after the download and converting is completed, rename it to whatever you want in the Finder.

Until I discovered Tooble today! (thanks to ROBERTCOOGAN2 who mentionned it, see iTubeGrabber's reviews)
It's not a viewer and its interface is not very stylish, but at least it wooooorks! (and nevertheless, it's free!)
As for the browsers/viewers, you might try MacTubes or Minitube.
(I still have to try Youview and FLV Spider)
+58
As for a browser only app, Minitube is very efficient and simple.
Youview is not bad but to have the download working you have to pay! (Waow, what a freeware! ;-)
+58
Ok, after trying all that I could find around, here's my verdict:
Minitube is the best for browsing but doesn't download.
Tooble is nice but lately there's always this "Pro" ad at start...
So I came back to MacTubes, which is probably the best compromise and FREE.
It's absolutely insane that paying apps don't work while free ones do!!!

I am having problems getting the download now link to work on the latest update. It simply cycles me back to this same page over and over again. I've tried two separate browsers (Safari and iCab), both with the same result.
Any ideas?

Feature request -> is it possible stream it and covert in realtime to mkv ? I desperately need this.
+3
Please send feature requests and question to jorisvervuurt@planet.nl so I can take a look at them.
Regarding the zero-size file problem: today it happened once to me too.
It appears to be a problem at YouTube's end: drag the zero-size file onto TextEdit and you will see:
Http/1.1 Service Unavailable
Reloading the page and clicking the Download button again should make it work again.
Also I am now working on a new preference option called "If available, download YouTube videos at highest quality (.mp4 file)". It will download the video at a much higher quality than you get now when clicking the Download button. Also, 1080p YouTube HD videos can be downloaded immediately as .mp4 files and the zero-size file problem should no longer occur.
+13
What about my feature request?
+1
For now, you may want to take a look at iVideoConverter.
+2
Although the interface is very cool and easy to use it didn't worked for me.
It always produced a non working file. After some searching and twiddling I found out it creates a corrupted file with a size: Zero ?????

After reading the previous review I gave it another try. After some cumbersome tries it indeed results in a workable file. But it isn't workable for me.
If I have to download a lengthy movie a couple of time to hit the jackpot it is not worth it.
With MacTubes no problems.
I am unable to reproduce the problem you have over here.
Can you please contact me at jorisvervuurt@planet.nl as MacUpdate is not really the place to post these kind of messages. If you send me an e-mail with your problem, it is much easier for me to help you. Thank you.
Also, can you please send me the URL(s) of the video(s) you tried to download?
Maybe I am able to reproduce the problem then, and fix the problem.
Hope to hear from you soon via e-mail.

Some strange issues:
- Why does the main window refreshes when you close the preference window?
- Why does the main window refreshes twice when I press the refresh button?
- Why does iTubeX quits downloading at a random rate? This behavior wasn't there with previous version. Happens 2 out of 10 tries. When it happens I get a 0 size file.
I am unable to reproduce the downloading problem you have over here.
Also, I would like to ask you to not post questions in the review section, that's why there is a Contact e-mailaddress on my website.
So, can you please contact me at jorisvervuurt@planet.nl as MacUpdate really is not the place to have a discussion about something. If you send me an e-mail with the URL(s) of the video(s) you tried to download, it is much easier for me to help you. Thank you.
Maybe I am able to reproduce the problem then and fix the problem.
Hope to hear from you soon via e-mail.
