Having the, until yesterday, top of the range 24" 2.8ghz iMac, I thought that this update would be for me but on opening it tells me its not required. What iMacs does is affect??

This doesn't answer your question, but should give you confidence in that message. Apparently it is the 2600 PRO card, which we do not have.
