SpotLook is a graphical user interface to Mac OS X Spotlight desktop search engine.

SpotLook uses "tracks". Tracks are timelines showing some kind of results, according to their date.

You can use the default tracks or define your own, based on the files UTIs.

Tracks also have a search scope and an attribute to search in (file name, text content or keywords).

You can select some items in each track and quicklook, open or reveal in Finder the items you really want!

Please note that this is an open-source project. Your contributions

Sorry, but the software isn't that much user friendly and takes ages to load after it's loaded every time it's launched. I just wanted the "old" Tiger "Show All" window... The new one on Leopard just sucks (and it does not saves its config between launches, what sucks even more).

JEDIK: SpotLook is not an attempt to rewrite the Tiger Spotlight interface. SpotLook wants to explore a graphical representation of Spotlight results relative to their date.

Version 1.2 loads much faster, and remembers the controls positions between lanches. If you have ideas to make SpotLook more user-friendly, please tell me.

you could try out Leap, it's pretty much exactly what i was missing in the 10.5 interface, that was there in the 10.4 interface...it's not the cutest app yet, but definitely worth a try

Leopard's Spotlight can still find files in the Library folders but only if you specify those folders.

Apple changed the way Spotlight works so that it doesn't search the "entire" computer, just everything outside the system folders (which contain thousands of files).

For now, SpotLook is merely 2000 lines of Objective-C code.

Sorry Tiger users, SpotLook is Leopard only.
