A lot more eye candy and a better UI than Jixii and without some of it's pitfalls, yet PF has it's own set of bugs and quirks that make it equally irritating.
Most notably, when I tried it on my Mac Pro (1,1 with 10.6.4), the full screen mode displayed a serious bug. Pick a piece up, place it somewhere else, and it jumps off to a random location, or so it seemed. I realized for some reason the app thinks the board is a few hundred pixels to the left of where it really is, at least for the purpose of setting a piece down.
Also had the demo get into a mode where I could quit, and a control or two worked, but everything else was essentially hung (even the floating previous puzzle was stationary)
It also seems to set and reset the screen resolution improperly. Like games of old, other windows had been squashed or repositioned once I quit PF. Deal breaker!
Piece rotation is problematic. I use a Logitech mouse with a free-spinning scroll wheel which makes rotation of pieces that way tremendously frustrating due to oversensitivity. On the other hand, if I try to use the keyboard, I'm required to use the arrow keys and so have to have my left hand on the right side of the keyboard.
PF is too lenient regarding how close a piece must be to it's proper position before it fits, and this is not adjustable, but at least you have to TRY a position instead of a piece leaping into place on it's own.
Too many more irritating behaviors to cover Needs polish.
Just some feedback regarding the review from Corpsecorps. Good news, the mouse wheel will now rotate puzzle pieces at a normal rate, even with a very sensitive mouse (v1.3.2).
And the full screen mode was actually addressed in v1.3.1, no longer making pieces "drift", and no longer altering the screen resolution and causing other windows to move or shrink.
As for pieces snapping into position when you drop them close by, you need to drop them very close (within 4 or 5 pixels). They will not auto-fit into place from far away. Perhaps this was also a glitch in the old full screen mode. In any case, you should see no problems in v1.3.2. :)
