Nice UI. Pretty much full featured backup and sync utility.
It would be better if # of files, file/folder size, mod date, or some basic info in the Analyze window so that i can make a better decision before the time consuming task.

I've got it fro MUpromo. As web developer & graphic design, everyday I move a lot of files, small or big, for every product. Is easy for me organize my backups.
Very easy & fast the syncronize for my photo (loaded in iPhote the backuped in a safe disjk. Useful the clone function too.
Grat tool. Thanks!

When it works, it's good, but on 3 Macs all running 10.5.8 and up to date, I have only managed to get 2 backups to fully work when backing up to CD.

Using Toast fails, using the built in CD burner is more successful, but there is a lack of feedback about what has failed once things fail, leaving you with no clue as to how to solve the issue... even worse on one backup it stated that it had been successful, when nothing had happened.

I totally support shareware, but this is a definite try before you buy!

It could be something on my system is the issue, but neither myself or their support could see anything.

Shame, as potentially this is very very good indeed.

I bought this application on MUPromo and currently run OS 10.5.8 on a Mac Pro. The application offers three ways to back up:
Completely (a copy of your files), incrementally/regularly (updating only the changed files) and versions of your files (not overwriting the old versions).

I wanted to simply copy some files and later use the incremental backup to only update what has changed.

Unfortunately, it is quite slow. I think I will instead use Super Duper.

Let me try to explain why this is happening. Get Backup compresses files (to save space) when creating a backup archive rather than copying them to another location, like Super Duper does.

So, when Get Backup creates an archive it may take longer to create it first time (depends on the source folder size). But, all future incremental backups will not take long.

For the people who don't need backup file compression, and who have lots of free space available, we will introduce Cloning feature, which will speed up the backup process.

I had high hopes when I purchased this program. It came with a strong endorsement from a well respected in the Industry, friend of mine. I paid for this program before even trying it out.(both stupid & idiotic). But I was in a hurry and the endorsement was good enough to take a chance. All I got to say is let me redeem myself from being forever banished into the land of loathing self-flagelation for stupidity by saving you from making a big mistake "KEEP YOUR MONEY"!
This program is so slow and it crashed or froze up so many times in the middle of a backup, that I have yet to get a complete backup. The last one froze after 48 hrs. It's start all over if your trying to create an image. I just want something simple that works this ain't it!!

Well, I may regret writing this review this early, but I think it's valid. I'm glad BeLight gives me a 30 day trial of this software, because I'm beginning to think it will take that long to perform the first backup.

Because of my particular backup needs and bad experiences, I am not, at this point, using the actual "backup feature". Rather, I am trying to synchronize a Firewire-attached hard disk drive with my internal SATA drive. Admitting that the external drive is roughly 280 GB it seems unhelpful that the process has taken 24 hours to move 1/4 of the way. Mind you, this is a synchronization where there was nothing in the target, so a simple copy was all that was necessary.

On the plus side, the program hasn't crashed, which I can't say about SilverKeeper.

Unless subsequent copies are considerably faster, however, the slowness (speed seems an inappropriate qualifier) of this program makes it all but useless.

Encrypted backups available in Pro version allows to prevent unauthorized restore of your financial, personal or other data. Most common encryption standards are supported, AES-128, 256, Blowfish or Triple DES).

Compressed backups reduce the backup archive size using compression tools, restore it on any computer without Get Backup using only system utilities, and much more.

Bootable backups can be created using disk cloning.

Synchronization tool lets you to coincide files and folders from one disk location to another. Two-way synchronization available in Pro version helps keep files up-to-date in two locations, for example your desktop and laptop computers.

Integration with Apple iPhoto, Mail, iTunes and Address Book makes it very easy to access and backup your music, photos, e-mail and address archives.

Scheduling helps to fully automate the backup and synchronization processes, so that backups are built and sync takes place on a regular basis (daily, weekly or monthly). Create different schedules for each backup or sync project. Diverse Backup Methods:
  • Full - all selected files are saved, and the resulting archive replaces the previously created one.
  • Versioned - all selected files are saved in a new backup archive, and the previous archives remain intact.
  • Incremental Pro version - each time a backup is built, only the files that were changed are saved in the new backup archive.
