Hydra Pro (was Hydra + Aperture Plug-In) provides human eye-like perception to your photographs by allowing you to create High Dynamic Range (HDR) images from a series of regular photographs (up to 7), either from DSLRs or traditional point-and-shoot cameras. This is because a single photograph cannot represent the full gamut of light due to the physical limitations in the sensor.

Hydra does not require pictures taken with a tripod, as it is usually the case with HDR software. This is a unique feature that

Given that Lightroom 4, now in Beta, seems to have enhanced HDR features, one wonders whether Hydra Pro for $50 will be a cost effective purchase. The ratings stars below are purely arbitrary.

I upgraded last week to the new 3.0 version. I'm glad to see that the developers continue to improve Hydra. It's my favorite app to render HDR pictures. The new UI is really nice. The tool to remove ghost effects is a killing feature.
PS : If the developers read this thread, I would like to have Quick Look implemented on the document files.

Version 3 is a huge step forward! I was already satisfied with version 2 but they improved the application even further. Keep on the good work, I really appreciate!

I really like Hydra 3. It processes HDR images much faster than any other HDR software.

For most people, it is far easier to write in their native language. I don't understand a word of Polish (I didn't even know it was Polish) but I simply asked Google to translate your comment. So, you can do the same with the French text above... Just my 2 cents...

For you !I owned the previous version 2.0 and it suited me perfectly. Being passed over "lion" the change was required. I can tell you that this new version has been revised completely, ergonomics more fluid, full-screen function, wealth of presets and settings, ease of use and amazing final results either with one or more photos. High level of HDR! Can always contact Creeaced that are responsive to users like us ... ....

So, looks like it doesn't hurt to write in English. Thanks for that.

Yes, I know there is Google Translate. But writing on English website/forum in own language seems arrogant to me: you are wasting time of people looking for information just because you are too lazy to translate.

And now something about main topic: Hydra Pro is crappy. And new version brings nothing new except fancy new interface and a few cheap filters.
It is ok if you have perfectly aligned photos. I am sorry, but I don't. Hydra offers alignment (which is nicely done and works OK - it is far less efficient than what you can get with Autopano, but it works), but yet I not found a method to keep aligned image on render screen... It is either aligned or rendered....

Hi Marek,

Please contact the support team, and we'll help you with this issue.
Basically, you only need 4 points to align the images. You can review each point, and move it if it is on the right place on the picture. When you are ready, simply click "Develop" to preview the HDR image.

And the winner is...
...also not version 3.0.1 !! Exactly the same habit (1,5 GB RAM used, Core2Duo on 10.7.2 gets blocked totally, crash with bigger files) like the previous version. And still NO AMSWER from the DEV. Just as a reminder: I did send the Dev an exact description with URL of my test files.

I did a re-test on the new 10.7.2 with exactly the same results like on the developer previews of Lion and on SnowLeo: Finally I can say without any exaggeration, that Hydra Pro 3.0 is a RAM-eating monster who even "beats" Photoshop easily (over 1,2 GB with midsize JPEGS around 8 Mpix. With JPEGs over 20 Mpixel Hydra hangs immediately after starting HDR-processing. I did send a summery of my tests to the developer more than a week ago. Still no answer!!

It uses huge amounts of RAM, it's intel 64Bits only and is not compatible with some graphic cards, I see the benefits of 64 bits and Graphic Card acceleration but making an app so restricted and just for HDR is pushing system requirements too much!

This is a unique feature that means you can take photos anywhere without a tripod to later merge them in Hydra.

Hydra uses an advanced image processing pipeline that first aligns the imported images and then merges them in a smart way to preserve the interesting inputs of each image. This method has been entirely implemented on the GPU to provide interactive previewing. This allows you to finely tune all parameters in real-time while observing the changing result until you are satisfied, and then render the full resolution image (resolutions above 20 Mega Pixels supported) in less than a minute. The output produced by Hydra is much closer to what your eyes actually see.

Hydra is also available as a Aperture Plug-In for Aperture and Lightroom so that you can create HDR images right from within Aperture or Lightroom.

Last but not least, Hydra 3.0 introduces many new options: ghost handling, cropping, vignetting, batch processing, tone mapping presets... Thanks to these pro options, you can preprocess and postprocess your photographs and get the result you are looking for.Hydra (stand-alone version and Aperture/Lightroom plug-ins) is available in English, French, and German.
