DNSChanger Removal Tool scans for the DNSChanger Trojan Horse, also known as OSX.RSPlug.A and OSX/Puper, has been found on numerous pornographic websites disguising itself as a video codec. Once downloaded and installed, DNSChanger changes the DNS settings on the computer, redirecting websites entered by the user to malicious sites. If personal information is entered on these malicious websites, it can lead to identity theft.

Upon launching DNSChanger Removal Tool, click the Scan button to scan for the DNSChanger trojan horse. DNSChanger Removal Tool will scan your computer for the DNSChanger trojan horse, and alert you more...

I downloaded this and tried to run it but it would not work. The icon appears briefly in the dock and disappears and I get the message DNS Removal Tool unexpectedly quit. Have tried emptying trash restarting computer, closing all other programmes...I'm running osx 10.3.9. What's wrong? I would be grateful for help. Thanks.

It works great. What is not mentioned is that you need to empty your trash after your scan and/or before your system restart. Works like a charm!

I've used this piece of software during a recent maintenance of my client's workstations. Out of nine workstations, low and behold I did get one positive hit. I did a little research and background check and discovered the file name was "Macvideo." The user admitted to "visiting" the MacMiniHack website, and the site was loaded with messages that had links to porn sites. He clicked on one of the links and it downloaded a "Codec" which said he needed this file to view the video files. Unfortunately, the person was also the business owner who has admin privileges and oh yea, he entered the password.

Ok, tried it and didn't find any trojan. Anyone actually got a positive hit?

You did =) DNSChanger Removal Tool couldn't find any trojans on your Mac 8)

I've been going nuts for the last couple days with websites taking 10-40 seconds to load!! My father told me to run this tool and WOW!!! you have no idea what a relief it is to have the lightning fast "surfing" speed back!! No more trojan for this guy! And no more curious visits to porn links either!! hahaha ;)
