What's New
Version 2.0 (8224):
Maintenance release
Requirements
PPC / Intel, Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later.
Project X's slogan is: "Project management for the rest of us."
Maybe that's why I did not like it and prefer FastTrack Schedule or Merlin.
I did not give the software a thorough test, so I'm not going to rate it. A couple of observations:
- Scroll-wheel stopped working several times
- Regular slowdowns
- The application asks for various connections to the internet (mainly related to projectx and apple). The first time I denied connections the application quit. The second time, I could not export a file.
- I did not find a way to display multiple time units (e.g., Weeks AND Days). It may be possible, but as mentioned I only tried it briefly.
It's not bad. May be more of a competing product to OmniPlan, which is OK for very simple projects. I don't know how this one works with multiple projects, shared resources, etc.
I may try this again eventually, but for now I'll pass.
A long time ago, I used Mac Project Pro, I think it was called. Whatever it was called, it was very good but was discontinued. I need a project management programme to run on Macs and which shows PERT as well as Gantt views of projects. MS Project is the default choice for many organizations, but it meets neither of these criteria. ProjectX meets both, and also shows resource usage. The graphics are clear and useful.
