Commander: Europe at War spans World War II, allowing the player to control the Axis or Allied forces throughout the entire European Theatre. Can Germany's rise be stopped or will the jackboots of the SS march through London?

This high level turn-based strategy game offers plenty of depth to satisfy seasoned wargamers while presenting an interface that's easily accessible to newcomers as well. Fans of the old "Panzer General" series will find themselves completely at home as they try to hold the Maginot Line, march on Moscow, or clear the shipping lanes of Sea Wolves!

The game runs in 1024 x 768 pixels _only_, windowed or fullscreen (!). That's a very contemporary resolution these days. Therefor you can't change it! Isn't that great?
I heard there're a few bigger screens out there, but anyway...

Oh yes, they want nearly 50 bucks for it. Well...

I tried out the demo and it seems like a pretty good turn-based strategy game. But why is it so expensive?

They developed very hard on the 1024 x 768 pixels resolution. I think that's why it's 49,95$. It's an absolute premium feature.

So I bought the full version. It is indeed well made and it is a good game-play. The main problem is the relatively weak AI. It completely ignores Africa and the Middle East for example. After playing once against the cpu (and lost) it is now almost impossible to lose no matter how many advantages and handicap I give the AI. I think for $50, the developers should keep issuing updates that fix balance issues and AI weaknesses.
It may be more fun if you play person-to-person than against the cpu.
