It's a little like mind-mapping, except you're not bound by a central topic. You can easily define your items, sit back, and decide what the relationships should be. Then change your mind and alter the connections and/or dependencies.
As a project manager, and someone with ADHD, I've found this to be an indispensable tool in helping me understand project requirements, different environments: It's the ultimate note taker.
It has some weaknesses (documentation, reporting, data exporting) - but i2Brain works on every Java-supported platform and the author is very responsive to comments and requests.
i2Brain is a MUST HAVE for every creative person and is one of the key components of my tool chest.
