Version 1.2
Allows you to search the contents of a file. Be aware that this is quite time consuming.
i was pulling my hair out looking for a file. i knew it was on my drive, but spotlight couldn't find it. this found it in 4 seconds. spotlight is a joke. this is the real deal. i seriously can't believe osx is that useless. save yourself the headache. keep this handy. it actually works! THANK YOU to the developer.
A bit slow, but it can find visibles/invisibles files even in packages. Very very useful when you spotlight fails. And it's free. Thanks to the author.
I never liked spotlight to begin with. An while I have not found the way to get spot light to find my system files, unix files and hidden files, I'm not saying your assertion is incorrect. However when searching with my utility vs. spotlight I get far more results with mine no matter the criteria I choose for spotlight.

Better Search will also allow you to either only search for Directories or files, or both. Keep in mind when you search that Bundles such as Applications, are considered by the system to be directories. This will possibly be accounted for in a future release but for now you must choose to find either files and folder, or folders if you are looking for applications or other bundles.
