This really does work best if you a complete restore to 1.0.2 through the most recent version of iTunes. This is the best GUI for iPhone unlocking out there! Donate to the developer!
update to my last: I decided to do a full restore since I couldn't get summerboard to work. that did the trick. it's working great now. I recommend that if you have 3rd party apps installed, do a full restore 1st, then use iNdependence to upgrade and jailbreak your iPhone. You should have no troubles after that. enjoy!
just tried this out, worked as advertised. I had 1.0.2 with apptap installer and several 3rd party apps. Followed the directions in the help and it worked perfectly. My 3rd party apps didn't show at first, but I used iNdependence to put apptap back on by extracting the 'installer' first from the apptapp app, then I had to just uninstall and reinstall the 3rd party apps. So far I've gotten the following 3rd party apps installed and tested: Apollo, Stumbler, iFlicker, MobileFinder, Services, TapTapRevolution, iBlackjack, weDict, Sketches, VNotes, Books. Summberboard will not uninstall, so can't get it to reinstall.
Haven't gotten it to install my custom ringtones yet. But did a little research and aparantly you can't just rename them to .m4r because it's actually a different kind of file, not just a renamed mpeg4 audio. At least that's what it looks like so far.
Application works great!! Used it to activate my iPhone. I was a current AT&T customer and didn't want to activate up to visual voicemail/data plan. Activated in under a minute with my SIM card, everything works like it's supposed to iTunes. Beautiful! Major props to the developer!
Tried installing ring-tones on my iPhone, and upon clicking the jailbreak option, it asked me to select where I downloaded my updates to, so I located that folder and clicked to continue...
iNdependence told me there were no valid updater files in that folder, which is COMPLETELY untrue, they are ALL in there.
Kept trying it, moved folders around, put updaters in that folder, still to no avail iNdependence kept returning the same error code, so I just gave the hell up, it doesn't work.
Have you updated your copy of iTunes to the latest version? Have you updated your iPhone to the latest firmware version?
If you have done one or both of these things, then this is very likely why iNdependence has not worked for you.
Apple iTunes updates (the last two versions or so) and the iPhone firmware update lock out third-party ringtone apps. This is not the fault of the third-party apps.

Plain and simple, NON-WORKING APP here.
