That's what I was looking for. A very basic app [though weighty]. Will be looking forward to updates.

This is a nice and handy little application and the fact that it is free for use with up to 5 items makes it even better.

Thanks for the feedback. As I said in an early post, the program was written using 3rd party cross-platform framework. That's why the binary is big. However, I do realize I should be able to reduce the binary size by half by stripping the 64-bit binaries as they are not necessary.

7.1MB for such a "small" app? That's quite a lot.

It uses cross-platform code, that why it is big, and also why it has a Windows version:-) If you're concerned about spyware and such, rest assured. It is 100% clean:)

Great tool! Waiting for the option to watch non-Amazon sellers. That would make this app ultimate.

Thanks a lot for going to the trouble of re-releasing the app for drag&drop install. Very much appreciated! :)

I would also be interested in an option for watching non-US Amazon stores, in my case the German store.

The idea for this is very good and I was looking for something just like this. But: it doesn't work correctly. I put in 3 items to track. It will automatically change to "Do not watch" although I have specified that it is to watch it and have entered a price. It sort of switches on or off whatever it wants when it want to without me changing anything. Also, the links that come up in the alert window bring up 404 error pages at Amazon and items in the popup always say "Too low to display" which is false. Hope you get it fixed because it will be very useful.

Hi, if the watch condition of a item is met and a reaction has been triggered, the software will switch off this item to "do not watch". This is to avoid duplicate reactions. You don't want the software to repeatedly sending you alert emails or placing orders over and over again. I hope that explains what you encountered.

As the 404 page, I'm just aware it is a bug. I will fix it today.

The broken link bug has been fixed. Please re-download it from the website or click the update button in the program.

As to the "price too low to display" issue, I really can't do much because Amazon is not showing those prices.

Thanks.

Ok. links are fixed but I am not tracking "HOT" items. I want to track what I am interested in. For that the program does not work. Fo example I want to track a Nikon lens, ASIN: B000O161X0. If I put it on the list and then click on Item price drop to: and set 200.00, it starts bringing up popups with "Price too low to display" which is false, the page for that product states a stable price of $232.72. And it switches back to "Do not Watch". I also have another product under watch: ASIN: B000HNL8G0. That behaves OK, does not loose the "What to watch" state. So no, the app is still not working correctly.

Hi, the product page actually says "click here to see the price". Only when you click the link it will show the price.

Here's the situation: the program uses a free amazon web service to grab the item information (which is very light-weighted), not by crawling the actual amazon website (that will be too costly for web traffic). I can definitely hack my code to crawl the item page to grab the price when the webservice returns "price too low to display". But it will very likely jam your network and amazon also will hunt me down. I will continue to look for better options but for now it can only be what it is. Sorry. Thankfully I think such "price too low to display" case does not occur often.

It's a pity the app is distributed in an installer package keeps me from installing it.
Otherwise, I would have loved to try it out.

Hi Robby, what system were you trying to install it on? This program only supports 10.3.9 or later. What error message does it give you when you install it?

The point 'Robby' was trying to make is that because it requires a package installer, rather than a drag and drop install into the Applications folder, he does not want to try it... he is apparently wary of what else besides the application gets installed and where those other things (if any) get installed. Many people are wary of package installers when they feel a given software should be a drag and drop install into the Applications folder.

I see. I will update the installer to "drag & drop" form. Is that what most mac users like? Sorry I'm very new to mac software distribution.

Most users want to download an application and, after processing the downloaded file, want to simply drag and drop the application to their Applications folder.

Of course, some applications require dependent files to be installed as well (sometimes in the Application Support folder in OS X) but if an app does not require dependent files to be installed in various places in OS X, then people much rather drag and drop a given application into the Applications folder.

Hope I am stating this clearly...
