QuartzCube is a configurable, wide-angle, rotating video cube. The easy-to-use interface allows you to immediately apply different videos or still images to the faces of the cube. You can also alter the tension of the roll axis to adjust the rotation of the video cube.

I wrote about this app a couple of times before on MacUpdate. For years I've been downloading different versions of this app and I've tried it on a half dozen different powerful desktop Macs and MacBook Pros. But it was always a waste of time, because never more than 4 of the six sides of the cubes will run movie clips. The other 2-3 sides stayed blank white spaces. Interestingly, all comments I made to that effect vanished off this comments page. I appreciate free software, but I just wish it would work because I've wasted a lot of time tinkering with different versions of it for no good reason.

No, there is no "point". Think of this more like a screensaver or game, rathern than a productivity application or utility.

This is GREAT FREEWARE from a developer that knows what he is about.The Cube runs great on my MacbookAir running 10.5.8.I have played with it and it is an impressive toy!I am going to put it on My MacbookPro and my G5 as well as my G4 Powerbooks.I would have gladly paid for this app.It works and works well!

This would be very useful to me if it had the ability to export as swf.

Jing (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/25619) will capture and export to swf.

It seems like a good idea. But, I think it lacks a few features.

A full screen mode (that supports multiple displays), and an option to control the rotation speed (rather than just the tension) would be nice. Also, maybe some form of export feature to top it off?
