Socks is a collection of useful utilities to help clean, troubleshoot, optimize, maintain, and customize your Mac. Not only is Socks just the right mix for modern Mac maintenance, it's also wonderfully designed inside and out and has several practical and unique pleasantries to make your maintenance experience as smooth as possible.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't found a way to run daily/weekly/monthly maintenance scripts from within Socks. A feature I sorely miss, and every other competitor has.
I haven't heard back from Alessandro yet, but I believe the confusion arrises from the fact that Socks will not remove all caches, but only those deemed safe and appropriate to remove. This is easily configurable from the Clean->Caches pane in Socks.
Still works great! I love the new Help Menu included that we've been waiting for, Morgan! Awesome job and I love the pictures included as it makes it more fun and stimulating user experience to use help menu like Mac OS 9's awesome helper menu of old.
I really hope we see more options in the future from Socks.App in the 'Interface' section. Oh, the options!!!!! I love them! More, please?
Thank you!
Mic
I neither have a good review nor a bad review for another maintenance tool in an already saturated market of similar tools.
I didn't see anything special when I used Socks, it has a few unique functions but lacks some of the functions found in similar tools. For instance Socks has no manual way to remove system or user logs unless you do a cron job.
Try it and if you don't like it there's lots of alternatives!
Glowing reviews for second rate software makes me Extremely suspicious.
Healthy doses of cynicism and skepticism are good things to nurture.
Forewarned is forearmed.
Great utility! I love the features, ease of use, and speed of this utility! My second registration for a second Mac.
I've been using Socks since 1.2.3, and I can say it's been the most stable utility for Mac OS X I've ever used. It does everything I need + more. I recently had some issues with some corrupted files, I ran the Preferences utility and it locked up, unfortunately. After I restarted Socks it corrected the issue =]. Thank goodness! I've had other utilities that I've used in the past and I've trashed most of them. I had lost almost all faith in Mac OS X maintenance utilities, until one day I found Socks by googling accidentally. My maintenance routine and stability of it has never been the same! - It's more stable than it's ever been! To the Dev: Thank you and keep up the great job!
Also, thank you for supporting PPC Macs, even down to 10.3.9 (Which I still use and totally enjoy)!!
No, there still is no documentataion, but remember, google is your friend!
Socks is good for what it does, but compare it to TinkerTool System. There is a marked difference in every aspect, including the GUI, the capabilities of the utility, explanations of what every option does and so forth...and the price is about USD 5 more. Not to mention that it's also compatible with 10.6.
I know how hard it is to write software; I do it daily (it's one of my jobs). I am not criticizing the reviews or the developer. My point was, most software of this kind does not have lengthy glowing reviews from almost all reviewers, and that struck me as odd. I hope Socks gets better and better with time and the developer makes a lot of money from it. In its present form, there are better alternatives for Macintosh maintenance and troubleshooting than Socks. I hope that changes. Competition is good.
IMHO this is a good Mac maintenance utility. However, the latest versions download link isn't working correctly, one has to email developer for software!!
I just downloaded it twice in the last two months and am
about to register another Socks App. on another Mac.
I've never had any problems downloading MKD sofware. Honestly...
There is something very suspicious with this plethora of glowing, verbose reviews. Socks may be a great application, but statistically, this collection of comments all being overwhelmingly positive (except for one) is not probable. Just wondering...

Just because all the big shots aren't reviewing it, doesn't mean you
should be criticizing our reviews does it?
