iChat Matte is an iChat message style alteration that replaces the default aqua bubbles with matte bubbles that exhibit a more subtle, flat & appealing appearance.
Version 2.2, which purportedly "works" on Leopard does NOT, in fact, work on OS X 10.5.1! Raising the issue has yielded nothing but silence on the developers Blog (http://tinycrumb.com/blog/ichat-matte-2). Great idea but just not happening..
Ya... it looks clean but it seems to be limited to only the main colors in the prefs. If you try to use any of the "other" colors the bubbles come back.
So with that being said... I was thinking of uninstalling it but there isn't a uninstaller.
The uninstaller is at the developers site, look for:
"Zach, hopefully you won't want to because it looks soooo good! But if you need to, you can use Photoshop to go delete the top layer of each bubble, or you could just download the uninstaller here."
I was quick to uninstall myself. Nice bubbles, but I prefer the custom colors.

I'm using with iChat 4, under Leopard 10.5.6 and work very well.
I really enjoy the new look & feel of my iChat, I didn't like very much the original bubbles.
