I would love to see an update to this to take advantage of the new version of MAME. There is another OS X front end that is amazing, however, it leaves all of us that can't upgrade to 10.5+ in the dirt. My mac run 10.4.11 and won't ever run anything more.. And I can't afford a new MAC... Wish I could..

From some of the boards I have been on, there are MANY Mac users in the same boat. We can't go above 10.4.11 and use PPC's.....NOT Intel...so we are basically screwed out of anything new or updated. What developers apparently don't get, is that there are millions of us in this boat. Way more than those using Leopard/Snow Leopard and/or Intel... Oh well...

PLEASE, if Dave reads this... I think you have many people that would love to see an update to this.. Seems that Mac community is pretty much left in the dirt when it comes to front ends and ports of MAME. :(

Thanks!

- Greg

I asked the dev about this on the project's forum on SourceForge. He can't support it anymore, apparently; anyone who wants to take over for him can contact him there, apparently.

Just wanted to mention how pleased I am that the core has been brought "up to date" and thanks again for this wonderful game playing tool. I converted the ROM from my old "Elevator Action" game and now can play it anytime. You have saved me a fortune in quarters! :)

Essential for old school Mac gamers! Although initial setup could be a bit clearer (requires a full audit then individual audits for games you add to the data folder).

Plenty of games can be found at planetemu.net

Extremely slow to recognize changes in the ROM directory... requires a full ROM audit. Very painful.

Is this Leopard-compatible? And is it made by the same crew are MacMAME? Which one would you say it better?

Leopard compatible: Don't know.

Same devs as MacMAME: No.

Which is better: MacMAME has apparently ceased development, the last release is years old. MAME OS X is under current development. Check the developer's website.

If you look at the release notes you can see that Leopard is mentioned, so I guess it's compatible.

In short, MacMAME was never announced as dead by its author B. Oliver .. but we could say it is discontinued. So MAME OSX is the future (roughly)

It is good to see that the UI is more Mac-like. Now we can use the audit as a list of what games to play, much like MacMAME. And, finally, it doesn't quit when you want to switch to another game, and takes you back to the list of available games (again, just like MacMAME).

Hello,

First, I'd like to thank you for keeping this going. This is great!

One questions I have is whether or not their is an option to consolidate the list to only the ROMs stored in the ROMs folder?

To remedy this in the meantime, I've tried simply "favoriting" the ROMs I do have, but they won't all stay in the favorite list. Is there a sure way to keep these ROMs "favorited" at startup?

Another question/suggestion I have is I've noticed that some games audio is much much lower than others. Is there an option I'm overlooking (similar to iTunes soundcheck) that will make all games the same level. If not, I think this would be a great thing to implement. I don't know if it's something easy to do, but I don't remember differences in audio levels in the past using macmame.

I've also noticed that those same select games that play at lower volumes are the same that occasionally unexpectedly quit at the startup. But the times they do startup fine, they run perfectly with no further unexpected quits during gameplay (just the volume issue). Is there something on my end that may be causing this, or is this a typical prob?

Again, thanks for keeping this going.
Great work

I can't seem to be able to use my XBOX controller with this, even though I've installed 'Gamepad Companion' and 'XBOX HID Driver'. What am I doing wrong?
