This was my argument too, before Safari 5.2. Now it isn't possible! So any software to do the job or may be an extesion are very welcome! Who knows if Apple could bring us back that awesome feature that we can't have in any other browser.

@Vinnyg: Sorry, but you're wrong. Before giving the lowest rating you should have tested it. It's about downloading AND video conversion. Additionally you don't have to search for URLs in any window.

@Awado: There are a plenty of softwares to convert video formats. One of the best features of Safari, for me, is what Vinnyg said, I use it very often and it's the easiest way, no extra installations, nothing. Period.

Problems resolved with dev support and feedback, plus new version release as beta testers supplied similar status updates.
Great! mx

Never mind, it’s useless. Borrowed a friend’s licensed 3.9 and ran it on 3 Lion Macs, and it couldn’t download a single vid out of over 30 attempts. It’s sucked for several versions now, and evidently the dev just can’t bring it anywhere near to its former glory.

Various problems started to exhibit on SL 10.6 and VideoBox 3.7ish.

We've both done testing and trialling and lastest version of Vbx, plus v 10 of Adobe F (downgraded) fixed that.

Not so sure abt Adobe 11 again, now that urgent 'security' updates are needed.

May well bloody well break working apps again. Adobe sux. Thanks Jean, great work!

Great app, 5 stars from me.

First up it's worth mentioning that you need to adjust the default preferences to your preferred setting, otherwise you will probably get small resolution and low quality audio output. I played around with that for a little bit and ended up very happy with the result.

I did have a conversion error when I tried to use a custom resolution, I just set it to one of the preset sizes and it worked like a charm.

Easy to use - just take a few minutes to become familiar with the options and you'll be on your way.

Problems with software on a G4 iBook (OS10.411) until conversion was turned off completely.
Downloads swiftly and accurately, performance now best of class and looking forward to on upgraded Mac.

Useless.
Everytime it downloads a video... fine.
Converting it gives an error message at the end stating there was a problem. Waste of time. Deleted (again) from my system. Don't bother downloading. I'll wait for CosmoPod and in the meantime I use xVideoServiceThief.

Try again.
Change prefs like he said above.
Have been having ongoing probs with Adobe Flash variants and conflicts over 6 weeks- developer has been open and honest about their concerns and tried hard to resolve and done so.

- Can't update Safari Plugin Error?
- In app AutoUpdate Error?
- DMG copy problem with symlink to Application folder?
Common TastyApps, a stable release please.
The above errors are simple to solve. Please, fix this asap. It's not professional releasing it this way.

I've paid for the app and I expect a program that's tested.
If you need a beta tester, leave a comment.

Don't get me wrong. The app, when it's working, is great! 5 Stars!
It's fast, very easy to use, Safari integration, many settings, etc.

With kind regards & thanks in advance.

I've just got this handy app for free too, so thanks!

One problem, however: the browser plugin works fine in Safari, but is nowhere to be seen (or added) in the latest version of Webkit.

Got this for free, thanks!

However I can't get it to work. Whatever link I drag from Safari, the mini Browser opens up, claiming it cannot find a video (on youtube or vimeo). I shall locate the vid and press play. I do so and then nothing happens, nothing loads or downloads.....

Quite underwhelming so far, I am sorry.

It's working now, after a restart. All fine, good software.

However, I would also like an option to just download the vid as it is, without any conversion taking place.

Thanks!

Use the "Raw" setting in the conversion preferences to download videos without conversion. Normally this works just fine, but I've discovered that this version will not remember the setting when I set it to "Raw", it keeps reverting back to mp4. I contacted the developer about it and they said this would be fixed in the next version.

thanks MIBRILANE for the tips.
Using "RAW" setting, downloads the video as it is streamed.

Well, I can't get it too work restart or not. Videobox keeps claiming there's no video (Flash video streaming).
The minibrowser should be more interactive and assist the user in finding the streaming URL.

I get a weird focus-flashing problem between VideoBox and Safari when downloading files - like Leopard can't seem to figure out which program should be given the focus "darkened window" foreground window.

Otherwise it works flawlessly. Good work!

It seems like a nice little app. It makes it real easy to download Flash movies from the web and put them in iTunes. It's got a nice interface too.

However, has the company died? They removed this app from their homepage, and multiple emails to them regarding FLVR go unanswered. Does anyone know how to remove this app?

Quit Safari, then Just use spotlight to search for all files with FLVR and move them to trash. Restart or log out of your mac and back in and empty the trash (as it's most likely still in use by the system).

Uninstalling FLVR: Locate "FLVR.bundle" with Spotlight, move it to the Trash and restart Safari.

The last 4 updates to this software don't seem to install. I get an error message and a suggesting I run the installer later. I'm not sure what 'later' means, as it's the same message all the time.

I'll dump the bundle file manually, but don't expect newbies to know how to do the same thing.
