Great app, 5 stars from me.

First up it's worth mentioning that you need to adjust the default preferences to your preferred setting, otherwise you will probably get small resolution and low quality audio output. I played around with that for a little bit and ended up very happy with the result.

I did have a conversion error when I tried to use a custom resolution, I just set it to one of the preset sizes and it worked like a charm.

Easy to use - just take a few minutes to become familiar with the options and you'll be on your way.

Problems with software on a G4 iBook (OS10.411) until conversion was turned off completely.
Downloads swiftly and accurately, performance now best of class and looking forward to on upgraded Mac.

Useless.
Everytime it downloads a video... fine.
Converting it gives an error message at the end stating there was a problem. Waste of time. Deleted (again) from my system. Don't bother downloading. I'll wait for CosmoPod and in the meantime I use xVideoServiceThief.

IMO using Mozilla Firefox and any free Video Downloader addon is much cheaper than this. :-)

I would suggest as similar software RealPlayer Downloader, but this is not possible as MacUpdate doesn't consider RealPlayer Downloader as an app.

I am so liking this little tool and got rid of all other comparable tools.
It works as advertised.

The dev is also very fast in responding.

Highly recommended

I continue to get good use out of it. I'm glad I paid the shareware fee.

They browser-plug-in and system preference panel are not necessary but convenient. On my Lion 10.7 beta, it caused problems... but that's what betas do.

Videobox is the one i use and recommend. i haven’t had any problems with it in the past. you don’t have to install the developer’s SIMBL-like haxie for it to work, but you’ll get beter use of it if you do — if you don’t you just have to remember to drag the link from the browser’s Navigation Toolbar (where the URL is) onto the Videobox application icon, which is best kept in the Dock. you can also use the very functional bookmarklet “Send to Videobox” (found on the FAQ’s page) if you are leery of the SIMBL-like haxie. but i have been using Videobox with SpiceRack for at least18 months with zero problems.

SpiceRack is currently the only haxie on my system. please read the FAQ’s here http://www.tastyapps.com/faq.html?product=videobox to learn more about Videobox and to make sure it will work well with your system.

Videobox can save files into 7 different formats, save them in an iTunes compatible format and save them into iTunes and then delete the intermediate file, with just two clicks, once you set the preferences to do that. it also can deinterlace and does 2 pass conversions, so the saved file’s quality is quite high. or it can just save the original file untouched, so you can convert it later if you choose to.

i can’t speak for the future, but the developer only asks for upgrade pricing (~$7.50US) about once every two years.

- Can't update Safari Plugin Error?
- In app AutoUpdate Error?
- DMG copy problem with symlink to Application folder?
Common TastyApps, a stable release please.
The above errors are simple to solve. Please, fix this asap. It's not professional releasing it this way.

I've paid for the app and I expect a program that's tested.
If you need a beta tester, leave a comment.

Don't get me wrong. The app, when it's working, is great! 5 Stars!
It's fast, very easy to use, Safari integration, many settings, etc.

With kind regards & thanks in advance.

I've just got this handy app for free too, so thanks!

One problem, however: the browser plugin works fine in Safari, but is nowhere to be seen (or added) in the latest version of Webkit.

Got this for free, thanks!

However I can't get it to work. Whatever link I drag from Safari, the mini Browser opens up, claiming it cannot find a video (on youtube or vimeo). I shall locate the vid and press play. I do so and then nothing happens, nothing loads or downloads.....

Quite underwhelming so far, I am sorry.

It's working now, after a restart. All fine, good software.

However, I would also like an option to just download the vid as it is, without any conversion taking place.

Thanks!

Use the "Raw" setting in the conversion preferences to download videos without conversion. Normally this works just fine, but I've discovered that this version will not remember the setting when I set it to "Raw", it keeps reverting back to mp4. I contacted the developer about it and they said this would be fixed in the next version.

thanks MIBRILANE for the tips.
Using "RAW" setting, downloads the video as it is streamed.

And by "next version" I meant the next incremental update, not Version 3. At least that's the impression I was given.

Well, I can't get it too work restart or not. Videobox keeps claiming there's no video (Flash video streaming).
The minibrowser should be more interactive and assist the user in finding the streaming URL.

I get a weird focus-flashing problem between VideoBox and Safari when downloading files - like Leopard can't seem to figure out which program should be given the focus "darkened window" foreground window.

Otherwise it works flawlessly. Good work!

It seems like a nice little app. It makes it real easy to download Flash movies from the web and put them in iTunes. It's got a nice interface too.

However, has the company died? They removed this app from their homepage, and multiple emails to them regarding FLVR go unanswered. Does anyone know how to remove this app?

Quit Safari, then Just use spotlight to search for all files with FLVR and move them to trash. Restart or log out of your mac and back in and empty the trash (as it's most likely still in use by the system).

As mentioned in the installer readme:

Uninstalling FLVR: Locate "FLVR.bundle" with Spotlight, move it to the Trash and restart Safari.

The last 4 updates to this software don't seem to install. I get an error message and a suggesting I run the installer later. I'm not sure what 'later' means, as it's the same message all the time.

I'll dump the bundle file manually, but don't expect newbies to know how to do the same thing.
