DockReboot (was Dock Restarter)... You know the problem, when the Dock doesn't work anymore and you can not open an application? Then you are not alone with this problem! A lot of Mac-Users have to restart the Finder or the whole computer to solve this problem. Just launch DockReboot from your application folder and the tool restarts the Dock for you.
What's New
Version 1.0.1:
new interface
options added (Show Success Window, Ask before restarting Dock)
refresh option (if your Dock often freezes in, you can just press Command + R to refresh without quiting DockReboot)
First, let me start off by saying that I love this application. The Dock tends to disappear sometimes when I quit a full screen app.
An improvement I'd very much like to see is a preference option to make DockReboot automatically quit after rebooting the Dock. If you wanted to change the preferences or something, you could hold down the option key while starting it up to force it to stay open after rebooting the Dock.
A very nice app. Sometimes my dock locks up and this beats loading up TinkerTool or typing a command in the terminal. It would be nice if there was an option to autoquit after launching (perhaps if holding command would cancel the auto quit). This would make it quick and easy to relaunch the dock with quicksilver.
thank you for your comment. This was my first idea to make an app that is more OS X like than a Unix Shell.
Yes, I can remove the question dialog if it's more comfortable. And if you have to restart the dock often you can do the following:
- download a shortcut application like Spark (use it by myself - works great)
- add DockReboot to the Shortcut app and define a shortcut
I'm using the shapeshifter application to custimize my osx e.g. with transparent dock. But everytime after switching the user, or working with parallels in full screen mode, or connecting a second display / beamer to my MBP, the transparency is gone and i have to restart the dock.
As a solution I also used a little shell script for this problem, but this app is more comfortable and osx like. Thank you!
I have also a little task for you: it will be fine to start the app and force a dock restart to avoid the two splash screens and the additionally clicks.

this is a very good idea and I will implement this option in the next update.
I am also trying to make DockReboot faster.
Thanks for your idea.
Best Regards,
Tobias Jordan.
